“The horse has fired the horse catcher”

A friendly reminder to folks that you do not have to surround yourself in the news 24/7. You are allowed to have safe places. You are allowed to not look at things for days at a time. Everyone needs rest. You are not a worse person, or activist, for taking care of yourself.

This makes me so, so sad.

Chappell Roan wows me every single time I see her perform. I truly believe she’ll be the Madonna of genZ.

I’m so happy for Doechii 😭 Such a good message too, she deserves that Grammy 100%

It never gets easier to get grad school rejections. Eight more chances to go 🤞🙃

Go birds 🦅

if they want to go back to the 1950s, we’re bringing the cuisine back to the 1950s too. you put me in the kitchen, I will spend 100% of my time in there finding how much horseradish and shrimp I can put in Jello before God personally comes down here to stop me.

I haven't done this in awhile, because 2025 has just been A LOT, but... It's Friday night. I did enough this week. YOU did enough this week.

I feel like today pushed me down a flight of stairs and then laughed

I don’t post those “you’re safe with me” graphics just because it’s not up to me to decide who feels safe in my presence but I’ll say I will do my best to be safe, or at least to bring about a world where you are safe whether I’m around or not 💜

At AAS I heard a lot of “I’d hate to be applying to grad schools this round!” and as someone applying this round it truly is grim. That had me asking though, what is being done? Are programs attempting to accommodate and expand? Or are they at their limit as well? If anyone knows, please share!

Just typed “astronophysics”. So that’s how my Tuesday is going.

Well folks, there is once again a horse loose in a hospital.

It’s not lost on me that both Reagan and Trump’s second inauguration will/did take place inside the Capitol rotunda because hell was literally trying to freeze over. Even hell was like “that’s too far”.

I’ve loved being in DC but I’m at the point in the trip where I’ve started staring at pictures of my dog for excessive amounts of time.

My #1 must see while in DC was the Lincoln Memorial, where MLK gave his “I Have a Dream” speech. Tonight, I got to see that. I feel extremely lucky to be in the same place, looking at the same view MLK was looking at over 60 years ago. These are the kind of experiences that make me feel patriotic.

Just had a sample of the Eaton Fire ash that is in my driveway run on the department XRF. Is there titanium (new house paint)? Yup. Lead (old house paint)? You betcha. Heavy metals? Check. Treat that ash like it's toxic folks (because it is)

Day 87 of AAS. I’m about to take a nap at a table in the exhibition hall (half joking). Still haven’t eaten a vegetable. I can’t believe today is the last day, I’m going to miss being here!

There’s nothing like meeting someone you really respect and embarrassing yourself beyond recovery. Perfect. No notes.

One of my favorite acronyms of all #AAS245 by Liliana Rivera Sandoval from UT Rio Grande Valley. Made me miss south Texas 🩷🌮

To be vulnerable, these big events give me massive amounts of imposter syndrome. To anyone else dealing with this please know you deserve to be here just as much as anyone else does. Take breaks and be kind to your mind.
