In On Fairy-Stories, Tolkien defends escapism in an almost identical manner, framing it as an act of resistance, not cowardice. He argues that those in power fear imagination because it fuels revolt. Read it. It still matters. coolcalvary.com/wp-content/u...

You should be a fan of it! Vampire media isn't just blood and sex; it’s a study of the human condition! It explores desire, power, prejudice, mortality, repression, and the fear of the "other!" Vampires reflect what we crave and what we fear in ourselves! How can you not be into that!?

Thinking about this with regard to Ellen, who was called a "Priestess of Isis" by Professor von Franz, is also interesting, but I don't want to spoil too much for people who haven't seen it. Anyway, go see the film.

1/ So, Nosferatu (2024) captivated me, so much so, in fact, that I think I love film again. It also pulled me into a deep dive into Orlok’s origins. This isn’t a comparison to Dracula or Vlad the Impaler; it’s about Romanian folklore that could explain Orlok’s existence. Here's what I've deduced:

Welp.

They're moving Bernie Sanders' town hall to a bigger venue because so many people are coming. You assholes ruined that man when he was running...now here he is, at 83-years-old, the sole resistor of your shitty party. STFU.

Dad brought me a candle. 🤍 Gave me the motivation to tidy up a bit.

I know I shouldn't laugh, but.

Congratulations, you're choosing to ignore the institutionalized systematic devastation of the domestic policies that Biden, an outspoken Zionist, not only supported but actually spearheaded. I hope you sleep well at night knowing you’re no different than a republican.

Why is every diaspora kid like this.

Dear journal, it's Sunday, February 23, 2025, and Nosferatu still has me in a chokehold. Ellen crawling to Thomas, whispering, 'I'll be good,' then kneeling with her mouth on him and following up with, 'You could never please me like he could'—that's insane work. Welcome back, eroticism in horror.

The storm gathers. A walk on the wild side this morning here in Glastonbury.

So eepi. Goodnight, freaks.

Sorry, I’m in my Nosferatu girlie era.

I thought Olive Garden was just that faux Italian chain everyone mocked in the '90s. I didn't know it still existed. I need to get out more, clearly.

lol, no.

In a crushing blow to free speech, the University of Cambridge is asking a High Court for an injunction *through February 2030* to arrest anyone who protests on certain properties "in connection with Cambridge for Palestine or otherwise for a purpose connected with the Palestine-Israel Conflict."

Solid Saturday so far—two naps in and my dad just called to say he's making me a carrot cake and bringing it over. ☺️
