Melanoma is the third most common source of brain metastases, exceeded only by lung and breast cancer. Melanoma also has one of the highest rates of leptomeningeal disease (LMD), a cancer in the cerebrospinal fluid (CSF) and the membranes that surround the brain and spinal cord.
