Word of the Day is ‘ingordigiousness’ (18th century): extreme greed at the expense of principles.

friends who have ME/CFS, how would you describe your PEM?

Here's your periodic reminder that if you don't have a livable planet nothing else matters.

He has set my bar for men so high lol

An bhfuil sé mise ach tá gach duine brón agus gan spreagadh an seachtain seo? An bhfuil sé mar ní raibh aon ghrian?

RIP Yeats, you would have hated 2025

People who don’t include disability liberation in their understanding of social justice will never make sense to me. Like what do you MEAN you oppose sexism, racism, and classism, but the minute the lived reality of that oppression starts showing up physically, all your energy just evaporates?

Why yes I have reached the part in my Buffy rewatch where Faith is in it, why do you ask?

In these days of open fascism, the language we use matters more than ever: Using ableist and sanist language does the fascists jobs for them. After 5 years of disabled people pleading with you to see how ableism and eugenics pave the way to fascism— please listen to us NOW, at least. Do better.

“If you're not careful, the newspapers will have you hating the people who are being oppressed, and loving the people who are doing the oppressing.” A classic quote from Malcolm X, who was assassinated 60 years ago today.

The difference between how the media is covering Luigi Mangione now Vs a few months ago is so obviously calculated. Can anyone link me to somewhere that has actually reported on what happened in court yesterday?

My favourite storyline in shows is when two characters who normally don't interact much go off on a mini adventure together

I sit in my dwelling. A shed in someone's back garden. Alone. No room to host friends. The pubs closed at 4pm. The lights go. The electricity is needed for data centres.

The Gardai didn't even bother to translate her suicide note, which was written in Turkish. Rest in peace, Nilay, you sound like you were an amazing person.

TDs shouldn't be landlords and this shouldn't be an even remotely controversial thing to say. So many simple solutions for the housing crisis that get shouted down as very controversial. "People should be able to afford their rent" "Lol check out this economically incoherent rube over here"

Literally all we need to do to fix the housing crisis is to stop letting landlords leave tens of thousands of houses empty!!! They will do anything else but regulate.

This makes me so angry. I'm sorry we failed you in life and in death ❤️

The opening poem in Ilya Kaminsky's 'Deaf Republic' "We Lived Happily During The War: and when they bombed other people's houses, we protested but not enough, we opposed them but not enough, I was in my bed, around my bed America was falling: invisible house by invisible house by invisible 1/2

I know folks are in denial about it, but covers sell books, and folks telling you covers don’t matter don’t know what the fuck they’re talking about.

chappell talking about trans rights at the #grammys 🫂🏳️‍⚧️

I watched "Jaws" backwards. It's a heartwarming story about a shark who gives arms and legs to disabled people.

Traveller hate is SO colonial. Restoring their rights is integral to undoing colonialism in Ireland

If they didn't think the science was real they wouldn't be trying so hard to erase it. They aren't doing it because they think trans people aren't real, this is just the first step to genocide

Thinking of Ann Lovett today, ##otd 1984, 15yrs old & pregnant, she went to the grotto in Granard where she gave birth to a still born baby boy, she was found sometime later but died shortly after of hypothermia & blood loss. Her story shocked the country #speirgorm www.thejournal.ie/readme/ann-l...

Here’s some more cuteness for the t/l -

When the Irish immigrated to America during the famine there was such discrimination against us it was impossible to find jobs. One of the only places that would hire us was the police force. Mainly the New York police force. We have A LOT to answer for. We pulled the ladder up behind us SO FAST
