I wrote about it! Once, during a thunderstorm, my dad told me, "I love you in the rain." It was a common refrain, and something I've always carried with me. My partner and I are always saying, "I love you on a Monday," "I love you in the car," etc. My some-day board book, I Love You in the Rain ⬇️

What is a word or phrase that is part of your family #folklore? Something that was said as a kid, or a mashup of a couple of words, or mispronounced, or completely crafted from new. Maybe a new holiday (ours below - because I ruined his valentines day proposal so we celebrate 2/12 instead!)

#pretendpanel #Writers I didn't have enough confidence to write publicly until I took a technical writing course in grad school. My prof constantly told me to edit, but also praised my prose, if only in a different course, 😁. Imposter syndrome loomed large - a small validation helped tremendously.

Owning physical media isn’t nostalgiaβ€”it’s preservation. Used is fine. Streaming services drop content, digital licenses vanish, and censorship happens. If something matters to you, make sure you own it. A shelf of books doesn’t need an internet connection.

I try to write to not only be read but to be heard. I inherited that storytelling gene, and combine that with being a voice actor, I read my work out loud for flow. I strive for the narrative to be conversational, too. #WritingCommunity #Writers #Authors #WritingPrompts #Storytelling

Following a debate on audiobook narration (AI vs. Human) As a narrator & comm studies prof, I have ~opinions~ 😁 Studies indicate that synthetic voices require a higher cognitive load from listeners b/c it lacks what a human voice can encode; imagery & engagement. bit.ly/4jxrn1q πŸŽ§πŸ“š πŸ’™πŸ“š #neuroscience

Convinced all my problems would be solved by a Scholastic book fair right now.

I keep trying to write something eloquent and just being tired. History matters. Philosophy matters. Languages and literature matter. Indigenous studies matter. Arts and humanities and social sciences matter. All of them. Signed, a physicist
