Sorry I’m gonna be cringe, but I don’t find appropriating language describing actual horrible things practiced on animals as a joke to be funny. Our abuse of them has seeped into their very genetics, and playing off that fact without actually addressing that exploitation isn’t cool.

Purity politics implies that the standard we judge Musk by is rigid. But it’s not like we disagree with him on minutiae. He is a categorically reactionary person whose politics disrespect my very existence. There’s no need to judge by a “pure” standard when what you’re judging is sewage water.

I worry when liberals pull out the “Trump won because voters are dumb and don’t know about tariffs etc” argument, because they’ll be quick to point out issues endemic to the system we’re in (like mass disinformation) but be completely uninterested in actually confronting that system.

It’s a little sad watching my fellow trans folks, themselves victims of reduction down to our body parts, turn that sentiment around on turkeys, pigs, etc. as a means of celebration. Conforming to an oppressive system/holiday is not going to liberate us. Radical solidarity with the oppressed will.
