On a train in UK in 80s, a backpacker took a seat facing me. Seeing the Cdn Flag on her backpack I told her I was from Canada as well, & asked her what part she was from. Turning bright red she stammered, actually I’m an American. Seeing her embarrassment I said, we Cdns take that as a complement.

Max Fawcett is probably the most articulate and intelligent journalist that Canada has seen in the last 50 years. His writing make a subscription to National Observer a must for Cdns weary of growing right-leaning news organizations owned by US hedge funds. www.nationalobserver.com/newsletters/...

Watch for Dominic LeBlanc to be interim leader covering fire for his friend’s “tactical withdrawal.” Poilievre, giddy with overconfidence is already squandering the moment, LeBlanc will deliver the ordinance that will shred his PM’s aspirations. This will be one for the history books.

Will PM Pierre actually have free range to run things? Did Harper hand the reins to this successor or did he use his IDU connections to install a puppet? I suspect the foreign interference report will answer that question..

Trudeau proves his critics right as he dumps 2 of his best ministers. Can it get any worse for the party? He should’ve dumped whoever is responsible for cheques & dumb tax move. A mutiny in ..3 ..2 ..1. Chrystia Freeland resigns, clearly on principle.

PMJT courting Carney Pfft! Few outside CPC believe trudeau would actively organize for or anoint a successor. That maybe what Harper did for PP from his perch at IDU(with his buddy MODI et al). But if trudeau leaves, who believes he’d want to be seen stooping as low as harper for a new LPC leader?

Lest we forget how Harper tenderized Canada for trump & the MAGA movement. Poilievre was his loyal disciple.

@nicollewallace.bsky.social Watching your show from Canada. Thank you for your thoughtful take on US politics. But threat posed to us by your incoming pres makes me wonder if we will ever again rely on mutual respect and shared values as basis for our contries’ friendship. I sincerely hope we can.

I hope Canadians are motivated to be more involved in our politics. Stephen Harper offered his support to Mr. Trump last week as did other members of the right wing bullies club, the IDU. Poilievre takes his inspiration and, likely, his orders, from Harper, Modi & Orban. Surely Canada can do better.

I’ve been slow to migrate to this platform. I’ll make amends!

With leg in recess, it’s relatively easy for Mr. Higgs to do spin control of crisis in our hospitals. We understand this crisis has been developing for a while, but the premier’s handling of it has made it much worse. As we near 1,000 covid deaths in NB, isn’t it time to recall the legislature?

New Brunswick Hospitals are in crisis with sick left on stretchers in corridors the rest being told to go home unless they’re in a life-threatening crisis. Ambulances are unable to offload patients & ER staff are beyond exhaustion. Where is our awol Premier Higgs? Hiding… hiding… Pfft!

One of the most ridiculous “middle ground” policies is when hospitals require masks in exam areas, but not in waiting rooms, hallways, lobbies or elevators. Airborne viruses don’t care about the “middle ground.” Not requiring masks in all areas puts patients and staff at risk.

I’ve re-camped from Elon’s fiasco. @Cynic2010 is on life support.
