A true sign of cowardice to only accept softball questions from pre-approved journalists.

🌊

Roughly 75% of the political conversation on this platform is people yelling into the echo chamber and then complaining “why is it so loud in here?”

Dear manager: 1. Laid down last night but could not take my rest 2. Wished I was a headlight on a northbound train 3. Shined my light through a cool Colorado rain 4. Missed my baby from rolling in my arms 5. Knew you, rider, would miss me when I’m gone

Lol, lmao

I do not care how many emails you send me about "New notes" or whatever, I will never install the Substack app to read emails in a different separate app than my email app

DOGE's framing is nonsensical (it's not "saving," maybe "slashing") but just for fun: Elon Musk's companies (Tesla and SpaceX) have been awarded at least $18 Billion in federal contracts since 2015. Simply removing Musk's federal contracts would have done more for government spending than DOGE has.

In case you're wondering where we're at in the "fascism as content" scale, the official White House social channels are posting "ASMR" videos of deportations including handcuffs being tightened, chains as people walk, and migrants boarding an unmarked plane. x.com/WhiteHouse/s...

Following the plane and helicopter crash in DC, where both civilians and active military personnel have died, it is an untold level of cruelty and abhorrent behavior to watch Republican representatives, Trump admin officials, and Trump rush to blame the incident on "woke mind virus DEI hiring."

We seem to be entering a new phase of “Republicans buy sneakers, too” marketing speak from so-called experts who learned nothing from the first time America went through this cycle of thinking.

Maybe its just me but maybe our entire economic outlook shouldn't be so easily swayed as to have one singular app launch cause panic and alarm on Wall St.

We’ve really gone full circle on this, haven’t we?

The guy who won the $25k “TikTok Liberation Prize” from Substack is a guy who posts seemingly 25+ times a day on TikTok aggregating and reporting news from other sources. Now he is doing that on Substack too. Oh, also, he’s the son of Lev Parnas.

This is my child, Europe '72

Has anyone checked in on the people of Threads? Do they know TikTok got banned and then unbanned yet?

As a social media professional my official comment at this time is: lol, and indeed, lmao

I am not a legal scholar but based on the reporting I am seeing around the SCOTUS ruling, my point holds up. Little proof of "data collection" made, skirts the First Amendment argument entirely, but rules in favor of the ban anyway due to "foreign adversary" concerns.

RIP to one of the last great weirdos of film and television

0 days since last Dark Star. Mountains of the Moon > Dark Star, Taper’s Choice with guests including Mikaela Davis on harp and vocals and Tom Constanten(!) on keys

🤡

Have seen a lot of folks arguing the legal basis of the TikTok ban and every thread eventually boils down to the same point: there is not a legal argument to be made (or at least not a sound one with any precedent) because the ban is a political move (red scare 2.0) and not a legal one.

So not only has all the bullshit we’ve been seeing on FB/IG been edge cases, per Casey’s reporting, but the tooling that was being developed to help clean the slop from our feeds is being shelved. They are stopping the tech they know helps prevent conspiratorial nonsense from spreading.

chat are we cooked??

OK I'm going to bed, nobody buy TikTok until I'm back on my computer tomorrow
