The most cumbersome part of splitting subroutines into separate classes during refactoring is rewriting unit tests. If a class grows so big it needs splitting, the unit tests are usually already so convoluted that understanding their nuances is really painful.

Working with Java Locale representation is a rabbit hole that makes timezones pale in comparison.

Da dürfte sie leider recht haben.

Not sure if it's just a matter of personal taste, but nowadays I prefer Java's Stream operations (map, filter, …) instead of for-loops at least 90% of the time. I find it easier to read, has lower risk of side effects, and selection makes it explicit whether first or last element is returned. #Java
