All respect to Wilson, but this is the best prop Hanks has worked with

This resonates, I often feel unsure about how to describe my own writing. And I sometimes feel the lack of options are a discouragement to putting even more time and care into this thing I love doing. I also want to say: You all rock.

Is it crazy that I loved the external night shots (where you couldn't see a thing)?

It's hilarious and delightful to me that of all the theaters they could have picked, SIFF picked the swankiest, biggest one they reserve for blockbusters.

Man this sucks. AMC 10 is my go to after SIFF.

Thank you for this thread (and your persistent work here), Jack. As a Christian who has supported and served with World Relief, it is so disheartening to see these things being done and to see these orgs slandered and attacked.

ASTEROID CITY last year and CHALLENGERS this time just feel like the most bizarre dismissals. Few other movies in the last decade have been so fun! and thrilling! while also being so sharply made

I can maybe understand missing a category or two. But... all of em? I was mad about ASTEROID CITY last year but this is even more bizarre

Don't think about it, Jeffrey! I want to love it! And I respect it, it just has never clicked for me. But I also am always thankful for art that moves people even when it doesn't move me.

Gotta admit, I never would've gotten there

Yeah that'd be really hard to overcome. Though it almost makes me want to read a classically styled period piece (in the mode of Dickens or Austen or Flaubert) where they say "bro" and "dude."

The second viewing unlocks so much of the dense narrative. But I keep coming back to it as it unfolds as a character study on obsession, sacrifice, and the murky lines between artistry and showmanship.

It remains my favorite Nolan and vies for a spot in my favorite movies of all-time. Rarely does a movie that hinges on a late twist reward rewatches so consistently (well beyond a second viewing!) as this one.
