Reviewed Ben's upcoming novella—I highly recommend you all read it when you can.

From my novel TOWARD ETERNITY:

Accidentally read the first page of James Salter's Light Years and I'm afraid I can't stop.

I don't know how obscure it is, but The Mothman Prophecies is the best cosmic horror film I've ever seen.

also on the metal front tonight I'm listening to "Cruel Magic" by Satan. the non-metal world basically knows nothing about this band, they were NWOBHM but had a slightly more "extreme" vibe back when...probably just because of the name really. be surprised if they got a single mainstream notice.

My hot take that while editors can be very helpful at times depending on what you need, but the over-reliance / over-emphasis on the need for editors is a by-product of writing's unique brand of commercialism. Writers are uniquely babied and considered incapable of appropriately self-editing.

Op shop book haul

Eggers' Nosferatu was phenomenal. Too bad it's about to be upstaged by Paddington in Peru.

After all the discourse about translations, I think people should watch my video about reading literature in translation: youtu.be/v79fqaSiJQk

I love when something kind of niche goes viral and people that do nothing but post about everything feel obligated to weigh in. Tell me more about your strong opinions on the translations of Odyssey, guy I haven't seen post about literature a single time in years of following

Some recent book acquisitions

This place really is a lot less insufferable than Tw*tter. Almost pleasant.

When suddenly the manuscript you've been working on for years seems like overwritten, melodramatic garbage, what do you do?

Hello

Four cats, their names are William Gass, William Gaddis, William Faulkner, and William Vollmann. All of them are nicknamed Bill.
