🚨Lib Dem win!🚨

 Glad to see the government is listening to our calls for a Youth Mobility Scheme with the EU. This has to be the first step in fixing our broken relationship with the EU.

The 2017 Election left the Lib Dems with 12 MPs and it will never cease to amaze me how so much of both the left and right have convinced themselves that we were somehow the real power that thwarted all their efforts in that Parliament.

I gave a speech and LD conf last year pointing out that America was unreliable, that the UK needed higher (and more coherent) defence spending and that we need formal defence co-operation with Europe. Just saying told you so. If I was a less nervous public speaker I’d post the video here.

My great grandfather was a farmer. He sold his land, retired and left the money to his children. There’s something about this “family farming” narrative that feels weird to me. Like I should now be working the land and it’s a moral failure of my ancestor to have opted out of the “way of life”

The main arguments made against intervention in Syria to protect Syrians from Assad in 2013 were: 1 - Regime change will lead to a million dead and a 10 year civil war. 2 - It will lead to a wider global conflict between the west and Iran & Russia. 3 - Assad may be replaced by an Islamist.
