@outofcontrol From the FAQs on their pricing page:

@outofcontrol i was wondering the same. Especially given comments by some people wanting to use it, in order to move away from AWS.
I'd be extremely surprised if it wasn't hosted on AWS personally, but I have no actual info ...

@datorpunk I do, and the files do get deleted, but with something like a 24-48 hours delay. Are you sure you are waiting long enough to check whether the files have been deleted?

Also, a reminder that running your favorite fediverse services is not free and most are supported through donations. This is a time of high concern about corporate social media, so please if you can and they accept it, support your instances financially to ensure this place continues to thrive […]

I have now gotten a reply from Vlad. It's the same canned response that he has sent to others, and it doesn't touch upon the fact that he lied about Yandex in public.
The key message is that he consider Yandex to "contribute valuable information to our users" and "allowing our users to form […]

After having seen the statement from the founder of #Kagi I sent him an email with the above article. According to what he writes on the Discord that's how he wants people to communicate - directly with him.
It's now been more than 24 hours and I've had no reply.

Here's the truth:

@derickr @falken what a nightmare this whole thing is!
I believe even I need to do an assessment for my single user mastodon instance.
Ridiculous!

@falken fwiw and on your last point: there’s an exemption in the act for email services.
But I wholly agree with your point. It’s ridiculous that you need a lawyer to comply with this!

@alxsim I do find mastodon’s search overall quite temperamental and having weird quirks like that.
Im curious to see if you’ll get any meaningful replies.

lol, now Amazon - having sent me a replace for the order that went missing - are asking me to return the item I never received, or otherwise they’ll charge me again. 🤦♂️
