Strong statement by retired Rear Admiral Mike Smith, President of NSL4A: "National Security Leaders for America strongly condemns the removal of senior military officers without just cause. ... Removing experienced leaders with meritorious records weakens the force and emboldens America’s enemies."

One of the oldest arguments against workplace diversity was that qualified white men would be passed over for unqualified or incompetent members of equity groups, which of course presumed that no one in those disadvantaged groups could themselves ever be qualified hires.

At the end of Trump's first month back... • The Dow has stumbled • More Americans disapprove than approve of Trump's handling of the economy and don't believe Trump has done enough to lower prices • And a majority of Americans believe Trump's tariffs ( #TrumpTaxes ) hurt the economy

A full-on purge of the military leadership, targeting women and people of color. This perfectly captures where we are: An escalating authoritarian takeover of the state, combined with an aggressive program to re-segregate the spheres of influence and power and restore complete white male dominance.

its amazing the way conservative arguments fall completely apart in court when there are actually penalties for lying

🇺🇦 🇳🇱 Grateful to the Netherlands for their strong position and continued support for Ukraine!

The Atlantic writer Anne Applebaum says President Trump's dismantling of the U.S. civil service system, and his attacks on judges and his opponents, are part of a playbook on undermining democracy. 🎧 tinyurl.com/3w32xujf

Something we all should remember, as we talk about worst case scenarios and ways to plan for and survive them: It's very much worth remembering that we collectively can and will survive them. And, we will build something beautiful on the ashes of their corrupt and childish violence.

it’s so funny to be like “we don’t need diverse spies”

I have never been so suddenly rabidly supportive of a previously unknown to me politician in my life.

Medicaid is not for sale. NASA is not for sale. The Post Office is not for sale. America is not for sale. We have an obligation to resist kings. We outnumber them. And they can be overwhelmed.

Gov. Mills: I’ll comply with the state and federal laws Trump: We are the federal law. You better do it because you’re not going to get any federal funds. Gov Mills: See you in court

"They are laying the groundwork for denying benefits to anyone they want to punish or deem unworthy—or indeed, any one of us." - Nancy Altman, President of Social Security Works

"No outcomes are ever preordained, nothing is ever over, and you can always affect what happens tomorrow by making the right choices today" - Anne Apllebaum - We're standing at a crossroads! 🇪🇺🇺🇦🇺🇸 It's up to you! #BlueSkyFriends We need to be brave! 🧵1/9

Here's @bluestein.bsky.social's uncensored thread of the town hall held by Rep. Rich McCormick (R-GA), in which an unhappy audience pushes back against DOGE cuts: threadreaderapp.com/thread/18927...

This would be completely illegal. But you wouldn’t know that from reading this post, the headline, or the lede. Unbelievably bad.

In addition to Congress being the place that makes the laws, pretty key thing, the constitution explicitly says Congress gets to create the postal system. It’s not left implied that that comes under law making generally. The President has no power to unilaterally abolish it and move it to commerce.

Over on X, simple tweets by my colleague Greg Bluestein of the Atlanta Journal Constitution have been blocked. They were nothing but video of a town hall held by Rep. Rich McCormick R-GA where he was asked questions about DOGE

Screw this person in particular.

We need to take these kinds of statements seriously. They’re not joking or just “trolling.”

In 2024, the NLRB filed a complaint against Tesla for interfering in a union drive at their Buffalo, NY assembly plant. Today:

Not making this up: Pete Hegseth has reportedly banned JD Vance’s memoir from any schools or libraries that receive funding from the US military.

Religious-right attorney Mat Staver says "we're at a ripe time to overrule Obergefell": "There is no so-called constitutional right in the Constitution to same-sex marriage. That's ridiculous ... Obergefell will be overturned. It's not an if, it's just a matter of when."

And, yet, for decades, they had no trouble casting the career civil service as the "enemies." Fuck these cowards.

NEW: Judge Chutkan sets a two-month briefing schedule on a proposed preliminary injunction against Elon Musk and DOGE for alleged violations of the appointments clause. This was the schedule that plaintiff states requested. storage.courtlistener.com/recap/gov.us...

EXCLUSIVE: A federal worker at the EPA sent an incredible email to Administrator Lee Zeldin. He's refused to stay silent, and has asked me to share the email - and his name - with the public. My latest: www.muellershewrote.com/p/exclusive-...

Republican Profiles in Cowardice, people... "At an open house in Fairbanks on Monday, Alaskan Congressman Nick Begich (R) told constituents that there was nothing he could do to stop agency budget cuts being implemented by the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) and Elon Musk."

Extraordinary story the Wall Street Journal. X is threatening advertisers that if they don’t spend more, Elon Musk will use his influence in government to block company mergers. That’s extortion.

A real throwback to when Musk made Tesla engineers build a submarine to rescue kids in a cave and when an expert diver who actually participated in the rescue said the Tesla sub was useless, Musk spent weeks on Twitter accusing the guy of being a pedophile www.theguardian.com/technology/2...

Thank you to @maddow.msnbc.com for promoting @bsky.app on air and complimenting it. Her on air support is truly important

US Rep Michael McCaul of Texas, one of Biden’s critics on Afghanistan, said in a recent interview with CBS News that the U.S. needed to “live up to our word” to protect Afghan allies. “Otherwise, down the road, in another conflict, no one’s going to trust us.” www.texastribune.org/2025/02/19/t...

No, Trump didn’t “baselessly claim.” He LIED. Again. www.mediaite.com/trump/trump-...

People really need to understand. They are dead serious about all of this and they are now manufacturing pretext quite rapidly to do international strikes against allies etc.
