90% of our woodland is a wilderness of brambles. Why? dormice, wood mice, foxes, badger, crows, bank vole, woodpigeons, flycatchers, nuthatches, finches, starlings, thrushes, blackcaps, waxwings, pheasants, nightingales, robins, wrens, blackbirds, warblers, finches…

Those local politicians who have championed and tried to ride Trump’s coattails have a decision to make. Are they backing his charge towards disinformation, autocracy & international disorder, or are they going to speak truth to his power?

Unambiguous is a very correct statement the new legislation is literally called the "civil rights removal act." This is horrific and yet there's not enough outcry, and it's simply because trans people make up a tiny percent of humanity, they're vulnerable, considered easy targets by Nazis.

According to LBC, one of the books was about a crayon with an identity crisis; it had been mislabelled. Let’s assume the story is about accepting someone who feels out of place. How could someone who calls themself Christian argue with that message? news.sky.com/story/christ...

Amazes me how the left are always blamed for the rise of the far right. Basically this headline should have said "Left wing activists less likely to become apologists for fascism like "centrists" have been doing for years."

Another word for "regulation" is... "consumer protection" "environmental protection" "Regulation" means your milk is safe. "Regulation" means toys that harm your babies are removed from the shelves. "Regulation" means chemical companies can't dump waste in your river.

Tired of this. Givan and Lyons are obviously unafraid of consequences because there never is any. They're not afraid of scrutiny because investigations like Garrett's are ignored to maintain a "collegiate" mood. All the while children and young people miss out on opportunities they should have!

NEW: No mention of this last week during two grilling sessions in front of the Assembly & Education Committee. Now, the Education Department says Givan wrote to Lisneal College to say its £710k pitch plan was on hold - but EA approved it anyway. www.belfasttelegraph.co.uk/news/educati...

A more colourful image, of the Burntollet river in Ness Woods country park, from the bridge. Behind me is the gorge. This river eventually flows into the famous river Faughan. Ness woods is a gorgeous place all year round and incredibly well managed, there's a play park and a brilliant walk.

This is the source of the River Derg, where Lough Derg spills over into the Derg valley in County Tyrone. A beautiful spot.

Happy Valentine's Day to all you monogamists, super happy Valentine's to all the polycules out there. Happy Friday to all my fellow singletons and very recently single lads that got their ex partners vaccum cleaners. Also check out this RSPB thread. Favourite is the raven, I love all corvids!

Happy Friday! Hope it's a good day. Im off work, slowly getting out the door with no hurry or rush. Quest today is getting car washed and cleaned for it's MOT and then going to cafe Nero. That's it, no other targets. It's like a FridaySunday.

This is really good! Happy Wednesday!

I made this Pride flag using only NASA images and our team thought it would be cool to share on social (I work on the NASA heliophysics communications team), but it's getting all sorts of hate on the bird app and Fbook. Thought y'all might be more appreciative of it here. ☺️🏳️‍🌈💖

The opposition to clean energy by political figures both in the UK and abroad is part of an orchestrated pushback by big polluters. Many of the politicians opposing clean energy are directly bankrolled by big polluters, and it's because the big polluters saw the tide turning against them

Have to say I like Tuesdays. The day after Monday is always a good day. Mondays aren't bad either, as long as you have a bucket of coffee you're grand.

IF YOU'VE NEVER HAD A SUPREME COURT CASE DECIDE IF YOU HAVE THE SAME RIGHTS AS OTHERS YOU HAVE PRIVILEGE.

I wrote this last week - the US and Israel has been planning a final solution for a long time. Trump has just made it public. Sickening yes. Shocking hardly. belfastmedia.com/time-is-shor...

Education Minister Paul Givan still has questions to answer over equality after Lisneal football pitch row 'Why are our children not important?' - Sinn Fein MLA Cathy Mason said at yesterday's committee meeting, relaying a message from school principals. www.belfasttelegraph.co.uk/opinion/comm...

They prioritised a puberty blocker ban for trans youth and seem oblivious to the mega dump at Mobuoy, no University in Derry, Lough Neagh catastrophe, the NHS crumbling, the ongoing mental health crisis, the most dangerous place in Europe to be a woman, leaving SEN children and families in limbo...

im starting to think that even i could do journalism

Convo with my friend from Hungary tonight who left after Orban’s election. She said “your head will spin with all the wild stuff they try to pull, new things every day, but don’t take your eyes off the money. It’s all about the money, and what they’re stealing, and for whom.”

Nearly 250,000 people in Berlin showed up to protest fascism and the Musk backed AfD party.

Git te f**k with your anti LGBTQ+ nonsense. Pretending it's about protecting children! Transphobia rots the brain.

I love blue sky, I follow lots of interesting, brilliant and creative people and most of them have followed back. I'm learning a lot, going down rabbit holes in Irish history, LGBTQ+ history and activism, politics, art and the environment. So many new writers to follow as well.

People mocking Imbolc as unscientific are unaware it's a precise astronomical calculation so it abuts the point in Earth's orbit halfway between Winter Solstice & Vernal Equinox. If it's the Gaelicness that's objectionable, it's common to many cultures eg in Finland it's called Kevättalvi. #imbolc

Happening now to trans people in the USA. Where's the uproar as they strip away the humanity from a tiny group of vulnerable people. It's the same here in the UK, this insidious cruelty seeping into society, the idea of there being deserving people and undeserving people. How do we fight this?!

Surviving January this year feels more of an achievement than previous years, which is weird because quite a few of the previous years have been tougher, one or two almost intolerable. Happy St Brigid's day! Wishing you peace and the feeling lightness as we wake up from winter.
