Happy Presidents Day, featuring the presidents of my lifetime* *Felons not included

I've been able to brush off most of the erasure of trans people from government websites, but this one is REALLY getting under my skin. It's just complete revisionist history. How fucking dare they Old vs. new

Portuguese editorial cartoonist Zez Vaz reaches back to Tiananmen Square to call on American defiance.

The purge of talent continues in the federal government. I know personally the person who wrote this. They expect to lose their job too, as senior officials will be made to undergo some sort of loyalty test. My friend will fail. They will fail, even after a lifelong career of exemplary service.

Vic from 19 News met MDB and Deanna Bremer Fisher at Bialy’s today for an interview about the Active Transportation Plan. Watch WOIO to see the story.

Canada is Ohio's top trading partner. In 2023, Ohio exported $21.4B in goods to Canada, which was 38% of Ohio's total exports. Trudeau's response to Trump's tariffs is a 25% tariff back on $155B on US goods, $30 In on Tuesday, and the rest 21 days after that -- that's going to hurt Ohio. 1/2

On his second day in office, Trump summarily fired every member of the Aviation Security Advisory Committee as part of dismembering the Department of Homeland Security. Maybe it was just more convenient to blame DEI without any evidence.

True for Colombia, for Mexico, for Canada, for Denmark, for China, the list goes on and on.

CBS has not cut away. Rambling on and on. Somebody needs to lean in and say, Mr. President, it is time for us to go.

Alright, Buffalo. With the Lions out, it is up to you alone to represent the Great Lakes in the Super Bowl. And to send the thieving magpie rat birds home. The Lord's work, indeed.

January 20, 1961. JFK stood outside and gave his inaugural address in 22 degree weather without an overcoat or hat on. But, JFK had vigor, not rigor.

Having shut down TikTok for a few hours and replaced it with pro-MAGA propaganda, TikTok is announces it is restoring service, including more pro-MAGA propaganda in the announcement

Sad obsequious bend-the-knee messaging from the Chinese-owned and Chinese-government-controlled social media company. Which I have enjoyed, yes. So giving our data to the Chinese is out of the question, as we give it to Elon and Zuck and GM and so on to make money off us and use against us.

Decades ago, Ayn Rand emerged to give pseudo-philosophical justification for being a selfish asshole. Today? Meet Curtis Yarvin.

Today President Biden affirmed that the Equal Rights Amendment is the 28th Amendment to the Constitution. The ERA states: “Equality of rights under the law shall not be denied or abridged by the United States or by any state on account of sex...”

I deleted both of my X accounts, and I am still on Meta. I don't think I will delete those quite yet, but as more people I know are deleting FB and Insta or just going dormant, the more I will be over here regardless.

I will not be seeking a third term as mayor of University Heights this year. My full statement: brennan4uh.com/statement/

Tonight Gina and I went to the investiture of Judge Kira Krivosh. Congratulations, your honor!

An annual City Hall tradition, I read The Night Before Christmas to the interns. Lobo from JCU and Cooper the Chicken join. youtu.be/lVb3KGVcBOI?...

South Koreans stood up for democracy against autocracy, as told by a now instantly legendary tech journalist who covered it all while drunk. It is democracy that is resilient against brittle authoritarianism. South Koreans, be proud. My fellow Americans, take note.

Cheers, @aoc.bsky.social Baja Blast Cuba Libres for everybody!

Turns out the grass is greener on the Bluesky side.

Rode to Erie tonight to watch my cousin Chris Pfister get in the ring for his first boxing match in 17+ years. As I told him when I saw the card matching him up with a 25 year old, "Old age and treachery will always beat youth and exuberance." - David Mamet

The PD front page headline says it all. The MAGA-led city council is furious that I spoke out against their support of Trump and they censured me. I will not let that stop me from standing up for democratic values against oppression. Thanks for all the calls, texts, emails, and letters of support.

Nearly ninety years between the Compromise of 1877 and the Civil Rights Act of 1964. At this moment it feels like we are at the beginning of a similar 90 day period.

Eight years ago when Trump was first elected, I searched for something productive I could do in response. When Obama said lace up your shoes, grab a clipboard and run for office, I felt like he was talking right to me. I ran for mayor of my community, University Heights, Ohio, and I won.

Twitter deactivated, both accounts.

Heather Cox Richardson is as insightful as always in this post-election podcast with Jon Stewart. Sobering. Not sure what we do from here. Except keep finding a way forward and not giving up. open.spotify.com/episode/1CnJ...

Well, I find myself back here on Bluesky. Seems like there is a migration over, and perhaps I will spend more time here.

I have almost as much YSU swag as I do BGSU swag. Man, now I gotta box it all up and put in the basement next to the Browns gear. www.wfmj.com/story/501372...

Everything new is old again. Another social media platform to try. Let's see how long I stick with this one. What do you like about Bluesky? What keeps you here?
