20 yrs ago today, I was at the unfurling of Christo and Jeanne-Claude’s monumental installation, The Gates in Central Park. There were 7,503 saffron fabric panels suspended over 23 miles of paths throughout the park. Epic, joyous, ephemeral art. A magical & moving experience. Some of my photos.
