Copperhead! #snakes

I'm not sure if I had a favorite bird before, but I definitely have one now... #birds

After playing a weird game of "spot the differences", I've concluded that I got a picture of three different screech owl nestlings! Two of them have since fledged. I suspect the third probably did too this evening. #birds

I'm hardly even tuned into the spring migration. I'm too busy following various nests. Belted Kingfisher, Prothonotary Warbler, Pileated Woodpecker, Eastern Screech Owl, Tufted Titmouse, Brown-headed Nuthatch, Eastern Bluebird... So many are fledging now. Great photo opportunities. #birds

I found this screech owl yesterday with my thermal scope! #birds

Rare look at a Northern Rough-winged Swallow on the ground. I was standing by the edge of the lake, watching other birds, when I noticed the swallows kept zipping around me. I surmised that they wanted to land on the muddy ground, so I moved over to the side and crouched down and waited... #birds

Carpenter bee came to the wrong house! #birds

Messing around with ray tracing through lenses (in C++). 1) a 50mm lens patent from 1897 2) the lens modeled in my ray tracer 3) the "picture" that I took with it!

Today in the bluebird box that I just relocated yesterday. They're all about it! #birds

There's something about juncos in the snow, isn't there? #birds

it's kinglet season

Anyone have any experience with tame beavers? I've been observing & photographing this one for about a week now. It does show some fear, but if approached slowly it is extremely tolerant. Anyway, I've been taking advantage of the opportunity!

I got video of a beaver felling a tree!
