McConnell is more single-handedly responsible for the fascist cabaret running our government than any other person, including Trump.

Longlegs is beautifully shot, but the “twist” ending is so obvious at a specific point about 15 minutes into the movie that I wouldn’t trust someone who didn’t see it coming to follow instant ramen instructions.

Imagine that a tedious Ivy+ undergrad confusing Friedman ideas draped in Sorkin rhetoric for profundity gets a job through institutional juice at an outfit with no intellectual quality control and spends 20 years being told his banal ideas are Very Smart, and I think that’s your median NYT reporter.

They’re really getting desperate.

The type of poster these two represent is absolutely not confused about any of this. They know perfectly well who they’re chummy with, but they don’t care for the taint of association now that the masks, flimsy as they were, have begun to slip, so they’re playing dumb.

For me the most emblematic moment of Biden’s term is when Jen Psaki announced new COVID protocols and reporters asked how people would obtain tests and she got all snarky, “OH so we should buy them for people?” and then after a week of news items about how every other country does, we got free tests

Midsommar (2019)

This is roughly the eleven thousandth most important thing about the story, but man is it a good thing that I’m too indecisive to have ever got that Sandman tattoo.

“Astonishing” doesn’t begin to describe seeing a Biden post-mortem where the senior intelligentsia of the Democratic Party express every paradigmatic shift in thinking you experienced in the days after 11/8/2016 as though it’s a breakthrough discovery. www.washingtonpost.com/politics/202...

Can you imagine if David Graeber was alive to see this?

Right after 11/5, I noticed a disturbing rush of centrist journalists, politicians, and cultural leaders to embrace a wave of reaction they perceive to be sweeping the country. This embrace will of course enable and to some extent create that wave, so I’m compiling an ongoing list of receipts.

Oh NOW you want to make sure I understand everything you can do for me.

When the gremlins in the movie Gremlins eat all the chicken after midnight, that's the most relatable thing in a movie to me.

They’re just liars lol.

Hindsight is 20/20, but given how voters reacted to inflation, it seems increasingly clear that the democrats should have never released that virus

There’s an emerging genre of post about remembering a trend from a few decades ago, except the trend never happened. This is one of the most common instances. I see people saying this all the time. I was the exact age demo that movie targeted I didn’t know a single person who thought it was real.

To be fair she does look like a chicken.

A famous Supreme Court lawyer declaring the 2024 election results to be constitutionally equivalent to a blanket “not guilty” verdict for Donald Trump is the kind of diseased lawyer-brain thinking I could not have parodied if I’d tried ballsandstrikes.org/legal-cultur...

I'm not a political analyst so I'm probably way off base but it seems to me the more Democrats fight Republicans on literally everything, the more voters who hate what Republicans are doing and will do will vote for them, and the more they acquiesce into bipartisanship, the less that will happen.
