Last month we stopped a dangerous House effort to allow sale of a half million acres of public land in the West—land that belongs to us all. Now it's back resurfaced in the Senate and it’s worse, mandating disposal of up to 3 million acres of public lands. Help us stop it! iwla.org/conservation...

New York Times featured the Green Crew, a youth-led program created by an Izaak Walton League chapter in Minnesota, in the Times' series on climate change, 50 States, 50 Fixes. The Crew plants trees, restores natural areas, monitors water quality among other things. www.nytimes.com/2025/05/20/c...

$900 million in Virginia data center projects have been blocked, according to a new report, and $45.8 billion in projects have been delayed. Great reporting on the link between climate and water pollution, quality by @dinamaron.bsky.social

Through all eight sessions in the #Virginia General Assembly, I've earned 100% ratings from @virginialcv.bsky.social for my voting record supporting our environment. In 2026, I'll keep leading the legislative fight against data center sprawl to protect our land, wildlife and electric bills. #valeg

📢Excited to announce I have a climate book in the works! #climatechange

What it takes to jolt me out of my morning stupor. A series of shocks.

For sport or food, love of birds is saving grace for America’s wetlands

The Trump administration is racing to become the most environmentally hostile government in American history

My take of course applies to a lot more than the Climate Smart Commodity Partnerships. Rushed, non transparent and ideologically driven action isn’t how you make good policy.

To erase climate as a concern tools in Trump's administration deleted FEMA’s extreme weather risk tool which housed years of work aimed at preparing for the worst effects of the climate crisis. Riverbank stabilization, lead and asbestos contamination are just some of the projects tribes planned to address before the Trump administration froze funds.

Across the hundreds of agencies that regulate nearly every aspect of American life, from flying in airplanes to processing poultry, Trump administration officials are working with Elon Musk's team to launch a new phase in their quest to dismantle much of the federal government: mass deregulation.

The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency requires that large landfills monitor and capture methane, a greenhouse gas, but some landfills in Iowa are going a step further and “upgrading” the landfill gas into renewable natural gas, Cami Koons reports. iowacapitaldispatch.com/2025/04/14/i...

As President Trump seeks to dismantle whole agencies, college seniors have been terminated from internships and others have had job offers rescinded after the administration froze hiring across the federal government.

We should be thinking smarter about our drinking water: EPA needs to update the standards for nitrate in drinking water. Op-ed from the Izaak Walton League in Cedar Rapids gazette lays out the key issues www.thegazette.com/guest-column...

Congress: Don't sell future generations short by selling off our public lands to pay for a tax package! It won’t significantly decrease the deficit & will only exacerbate issues like wildfire, invasive species, preserving sources of drinking clean water. Full statement: www.iwla.org/publications...

Tariffs on their own do not create more American jobs or lead to more US production. In fact, Trump's last trade war cost roughly 300,000 jobs. All these tariffs will do is give corporations cover to jack up prices and pad their profits at our expense.

Retirees and disabled people are facing chronic website outages and other access problems as they attempt to log in to their online Social Security accounts, even as they are being directed to do more of their business with the agency online.

Pretty much.

Since President Donald Trump took office, the Park Service, an agency charged with preserving American history, has changed how its website describes key moments from slavery to Jim Crow.

The EPA’s decision to slash more than $1.5 billion in funding that Administrator Lee Zeldin characterized as “DEI and Environmental Justice grants” has hit hard in many rural communities in the West that have firsthand experience with the destructive realities of the warming climate.

Seriously? Do they love chemical companies more than they love their (our) children? New House Republican proposal seeks to exempt many toxic PFAS chemicals from regulatory review www.theguardian.com/us-news/2025...
