Influenza in US continues to drop from a very high peak in this once-a-decade bad flu season. (Hospitalizations this year in red below). 1/

What he is saying here, and they already doing in ways big and small, is spend money Congress has not appropriated. Not refusing to spend money as directed, bad as that is, but spend without authorization. Which is, in plainer terms and by absolute constitutional command, stealing from the treasury.

Dr. Katelyn Jetelina is well-informed and very angry: A child is dead from measles. open.substack.com/pub/yourloca...

So - I've actually led Ebola outbreak response at USAID. This is bunk from Elon. They have laid off most of the experts, they're bankrupting most of the partner orgs, have withdrawn from WHO, and muzzled CDC. What's left is a fig-leaf effort to cover their asses politically.

Duckworth: "Donald Trump has fired more veterans than any other president in our recent history. This has to stop, because these are hard-working people."

They really do think they can run around in public saying something eighty bajillion times a day, then go into court and say nuh-uh actually that's not true you can't hold us to it, and judges are somehow fooled by this.

Reminder (again): Just last week DOJ told a judge that Musk was not in charge. Here he says he's "personally liable" for these decisions.

Something I did not know. Natural infection by the bacterium 𝘊𝘭𝘰𝘴𝘵𝘳𝘪𝘥𝘪𝘶𝘮 𝘵𝘦𝘵𝘢𝘯𝘪, which produces a neurotoxin, doesn't induce protective antibodies. Vaccination using tetanus toxoid does protect for about 5 years. Great example where 𝐯𝐚𝐜𝐜𝐢𝐧𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧, 𝐧𝐨𝐭 𝐢𝐧𝐟𝐞𝐜𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧, is the only way to safely prevent harm

This whole thing would have been too over the top for a law school hypothetical where the goal was to figure out the most brazen and undeniable way to violate the Appointments Clause imaginable.

People laughed a few days ago when @jamellebouie.net said we might not have flu shots next year, but:

I wrote about Measles two years ago due to concerns of outbreaks in London with falling vaccination rates Everything written here is relevant to the current outbreak in Texas, where tragically a child has now died Everything you wish you never needed to know about Measles #PedSky #IDSky 🧪

This is an essential point: rule of law under constitutional government is the essential foundation of any kind of market economy. The idea that you can build smaller government and free markets on a chaotic, corrupt dictatorship is a fantasy ignorant of the last several centuries of human history.

Annual flu shots save 10s of thousands of lives in the US. Trump's FDA has cancelled the VRBPAC meeting which would have selected strains for inclusion in next fall's vaccines, leaving the question of when or even if this will happen. Could cost thousands of lives. www.nytimes.com/2025/02/26/u...

Elon Musk is now presiding over the cabinet meeting. They're not beating the co-president allegations. (And co-president might be putting it charitably for Trump.)

😯

This was my after dinner reading. TLDR - 64 patients and a pretty weak signal with a non negligible confounding factor of fairly recent covid infection in the vaccinated individuals with chronic illness symptoms is insufficient to make a meaningful conclusion. www.medrxiv.org/content/10.1...

Nice non-technical article on one of the most fascinating scientific stories of the pandemic. And there's so much we don't know: Is evolution in chronically infected hosts a feature of all emergent hCoV pandemics of which we've observed N=1, or a unique persistent feature of endemic SARS-CoV-2?

I just have no words for this. It’s catastrophic. The *first* phase is an enormous RIF, and then the second phase is to relocate the offices of those who are left so most of them don’t follow. It’s the complete implosion of the government.

An unvaccinated child has died in the West Texas measles outbreak. 😢 edition.cnn.com/2025/02/26/h....

At least twice during this press briefing earlier today, White House press secretary Karoline Leavitt said that the president tasked Elon Musk with “overseeing” DOGE. Those statements will almost certainly be cited by plaintiffs in the Appointments Clause litigation at some point.

What should now happen is that the members of the White House Press Association should encourage a total boycott of the "daily press briefings" denying the orange narcissist of the satisfaction he covets.

There is no good reason for serious journalists or credible outlets to continue participating in a state-media propaganda operation, but they'll cling to their WH press passes no matter how rancid the indefensible sham of it becomes.

Another day, another impeachable offence.

NEW: President Trump moved Tuesday to punish a law firm for providing pro bono legal services to Jack Smith as he prepared to face a potential investigation from the Trump administration. He is stripping security clearnces and govt funding from the firm. www.politico.com/news/2025/02...

I pointed it out recently but I want to note again that Musk and his racist pals consistently post photos of any women or nonwhite judges who rule against USDS, while ignoring the equally large or maybe greater number of decisions against USDS where the judge was a white man and/or Trump-appointed

Conference Board's consumer optimism survey shows jump in year-ahead inflation expectations (just as UMich's consumer sentiment survey did recently)

Note here that Musk is now literally assigning himself new contracts based on the use of his DOGE wrecking crew and the associated micro-bros. this isn't a "conflict of interest". it's just handing yourself federal money www.cnn.com/2025/02/25/b...

Well that was a real vintage House day. Sorry we didn’t deliver a better result but this was imo a Pyrrhic victory for the Rs, who struggled and nearly failed at the easiest step of a process that gets much harder. Goodnight, thanks for reading, we’ll be back here fighting the bastards tomorrow

The San Francisco gartersnake - one of the USA's most beautiful and endangered snakes. Many people don't believe a bright blue and red snake can be discreet - but when seen in its habitat you can see how these snakes can evade notice.

Is the legacy media going to do anything? Or is this it?
