Actually such a good point (pun intended).

I would far rather give salary scale a point bump that put money into the private sector for a finders fee.

Dear Spanish teachers teaching El Laberinto Del Fauno at A Level. I had a few very productive lessons with Y13 last week describing all main characters and finding key words to enhance essay writing. Here are our findings, in case they are useful: #MFLBluesky

Hugely energising day with over 60 school and trust leaders from across the country. We’re thinking about how local clusters of schools can build great System coherence Educational coherence Relational coherence So that all children and families have a better journey from cradle to career.

Just came across this organisation that puts on theatre plays in modern languages for schools. www.onatti.co.uk Looks really interesting!

I was today years old when I found out there's a language with only 12 letters AEGIKOPRSTUV Rotokas is spoken by a few thousand people in Papua New Guinea. Here's what I presume is the retelling the story of Christ in Rotokas so you can hear what it sounds like. www.youtube.com/watch?v=-tq6...

Does anyone have recent experience of taking a non-EU, non-UK passport holder student (under 18) on a school trip to Spain? They have a visa for residency in the UK, but passport from Asian country. French consulate permits entry with letter from school proving enrolment. Same for Spain?

Enjoying @neilgilbride.bsky.social’s “Self-Efficacy Theory In Action” while the kids go to swimming lesson. Really appreciate how complex ideas are being broken down into easy-to-follow reasoning. Trying to apply the ideas to better understand kids who give up on studying languages.

The exceptional Jane Herron is stepping down from her role as Bedford Free School Principal at the end of this academic year. She will be a very hard act to follow. We are looking for someone to do so. mynewterm.com/jobs/138228/... Conversations & visits very welcome. Please repost.

AI may change language learning like streaming changed the music market: we stopped buying CDs but still listen to recordings, and live music continues. Languages will enter a new phase. Accessible to more people via the cheaper new tech, but linguistic skill will remain valued. Pontification over.

This is really great to see. I have visited the school and seen @lilystaff.bsky.social and @louiseverett.bsky.social & Team in action and it’s no surprise their routines and curriculum translates into improved literacy. 1/2

I've been promoting the idea of A-level languages to lots of students recently. I'll be the first to say that it's not a course for everyone (perhaps obviously), but I think many students underestimate how interesting it is. It's a truly interdisciplinary course, with modules in 1/3

I’ve hugely enjoyed reading all of the posts, blogs, articles, reports & conversations on here around the opportunities with the curriculum and assessment review. So much wisdom, experience & good sense shared. BUT

I don’t know how many times I’ve had the following conversation: Mr A: “Problem X is due to English education policy Y” Me: “It’s an international problem that occurs in countries with totally different policies to England” Mr A: “But Gove!”
