BREAKING NEWS: I have Blue Oyster Cult tickets!

Music-related Father’s Day haul includes 2 books and 2 CDs!

If these guys are the good ones I don't want to know the bad You wonder how it happened They just picked it up from dad While faded old glory is hanging like a rag Defenders, defenders of the flag - Bruce Hornsby

NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO 😭😭😭 It isn't hyperbolic to say that this man changed music forever.

I'm not the biggest fan of solo Gord Downie but "The Moment is a Wild Place" has me feeling my feels. "They say Ya gotta live in the moment They keep saying Just live in the moment Oh you gotta live in the moment What they don't say is the moment Is a wild place, is a wild place"

New MRC! My guest for this episode is drummer Mark Zonder of A-Z, who discussed his musical background and influences, the band's new album A2Z2, forming Warlord and joining Fates Warning, and more! #podcast #newalbum #newmusic #indiepodcast michaelsrecordcollection.podbean.com/e/episode-15...

Friday night spin: Kicking back with Calling All Stations, the final studio album from the legendary Genesis.

The line "My middle name is Earl" thrown randomly into Tom Petty's "A Mind with a Heart of Its Own" will never not be funny to me.

I was listening to an 80s mix in the car, and Rod Stewart's "My Heart Can't Tell Me No" came on. I probably hadn't heard the song in more than a year. I stopped at the local CVS pharmacy, and when I walked in, THE SAME SONG WAS PLAYING. 🤯

NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!! This is awful news😢😢😢 a-ha.com/news/morten-...

Has there been a mash-up yet with Cyndi Lauper's "She Bop" and Rick Springfield's "Bop Til You Drop?" If not, what are we even doing?

All rise for our current National Anthem.

Same.

This album is much more than "99 Red Balloons." Take a deeper dive and get to know "Hangin' on You," "Just a Dream," and "?" among others.

And when you lose control You'll reap the harvest you have sown And as the fear grows The bad blood slows and turns to stone And it's too late to lose the weight You used to need to throw around So have a good drown as you go down All alone, dragged down by the stone

It’s the doc of rock, Rick Springfield! #IWantMy80s

Next up is John Waite! #IWantMy80s

Time for Wang Chung. Everybody have fun tonight! #IWantMy80s

Starting the night with John Cafferty and the Beaver Brown Band. #IWantMy80s

Late night surround sound spin: Dire Straits - Brothers in Arms. Sublime!

Absolute madness!

BRB, stepping into the time machine.

"Music that is crucially important to only a few people is as valid as music loved by millions." - Mike Nesmith

1975-1985

😮😢🙏

I'm not the world's biggest Pearl Jam fan. BUT...Ten is an album that changed everything. Filled with dark themes, brutally raw and honest, w/ moments of intense introspection. The guitar is visceral. A rare record. It makes you feel & not all those feelings are welcome ones. #NP

There is so much more wisdom in my Facebook memories than there is in my actual head.

"Strangelove" by Depeche Mode is a great morning song. It's a perfect balance of vibes and energy when you're trying to wake the hell up and face the day.

Curtis Mayfield is in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame twice and he's still underrated.

What I was doing nine years ago today:

Excitedly opened up the Dream Theater presale in Orlando to find the cheapest seats selling for $95. Seems it won't be long until I've been priced out of live music completely from established bands and will only be able to see only new/local acts.

Starting the first morning listen off with a banger. One of my favorite songs from 2023. #NP: Riverside - "Friend or Foe" from ID.Entity. #progrock

"Does the ocean hear you cry?" - Marillion, "Gazpacho"

I'm sure your alibis are water-tight And you're where you have to be tonight Oh, but I know you're slipping away from me I know your alibis are water-tight And you're where you say you are tonight But honey, I can tell I know the pattern much too well www.youtube.com/watch?v=tfXn...

Great opening line of a song or GREATEST opening line of a song? 🤔 "Honey, don't walk out, I'm too drunk to follow" - Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers, "Rebels" from Southern Accents

New MRC! I welcome Roine Stolt from @TheFlowerKings back to the show to discuss the outstanding new TFK album, "LOVE," a return to the band's classic sound while continuing the band's progression. #progrock #podcast #indiepodcast #NewMusic michaelsrecordcollection.podbean.com/e/episode-15...

The average American has three friends.

This is simply horrible news. RIP Jill Sobule. www.nbcnews.com/pop-culture/...

Evening spin: Remembering Mike Peters tonight with the 1983 self-titled EP from The Alarm. Such a great record. The band’s energy is incredible. RIP Mike.

One of the best albums of the 2010s is Riverside's excellent 2015 release, "Love, Fear and the Time Machine." All killer, no filler. #NP:

New MRC! I spoke recently with Tony Piccoli and Pete Hopersberger from Imminent Sonic Destruction about the Detroit-area prog metal band's fourth album, "Floodgate," which was released Friday. ISD continues to get better and better! michaelsrecordcollection.podbean.com/e/episode-15...

New MRC! It was great catching up with guitar legend Phil Keaggy about the new #progrock supergroup Cosmic Cathedral and their debut release "Deep Water." Phil also spoke about his life and musical background, making the album, and more! #podcast michaelsrecordcollection.podbean.com/e/episode-15...

When you sing along with "I Can't Help It," do you sing the Andy Gibb part or the Olivia Newton-John part?
