proposal submitted!

Another Friday putting other verified accounts to shame by including alt text on all of our images.

That's no space station. It's the moon.

You have been kidnapped and a character from the last TV show you watched is trying to rescue you. Who is coming to save you?

anyone know anything about NASA FINESST? #astro

been using this one a lot lately...

pynucastro now has a method to help understand why your reaction network is stiff. By computing the spectral radius of the Jacobian as you disable rates, you can see which rate is most responsible for a network being stiff. pynucastro.github.io/pynucastro/s... #astro #astrocode

The rampant data sharing fueled by online tracking has serious consequences. Privacy Badger blocks online tracking to prevent your browsing data from being used against you.

How bad will it be? Catastrophic. Proposed cuts to #NSF, #NIH, and #NASA will set the US R&D landscape back 25 yrs+, cause economic and job loss now, and undermine innovations to come. But, this is the WH's *proposed* budget. Speak up now before it is too late. (inflation adjusted $-s below)

@ligo.org will, as of this budget, in FY2026 operate only one site and that with a reduced level for technology development. A ~40% reduction to our operation budget.

Emerging workflows for discovery require deep integration between compute, software and service models, fabrics, storage, and external integration. Very happy to be working with both Dell and NERSC on this project to accelerate complex science. www.nersc.gov/news-and-eve...

The 300th Publication at the Open Journal of Astrophysics It was on October 8th last year that we published the 200th paper at the Open Journal of Astrophysics. Today, on 29th May 2025, less than 8 months later we have reached the 300 mark with this paper: The authors are Eliot Quataert…

WTF

@joss-openjournals.bsky.social is there a way for an organization to be first author on a paper? Something like: X Development Team, person 1, person 2, ...

new in pynucastro: we can now export to NetworkX and use their functions analyze a reaction network. Here's an example of finding cycles -- NetworkX finds the CNO and hot-CNO cycles in a network: pynucastro.github.io/pynucastro/n... #astro #astrocode

Just came from our Dept of Physics and Astronomy graduation ceremony. For the first time, we broke> 100 undergrad physics and/or astronomy degrees!
