Looks like the Woodworking ebook is on sale for just $1.99 today, everywhere that sells ebooks! What a time to read it too! Happy Pride! bookshop.org/p/books/wood...

Expert historian of the Constitution: “Once a constitutional crisis becomes an endemic condition, the term no longer usefully describes our collapsing system….we live in an era of constitutional failure when the relevant institutions cannot fulfill their responsibilities.” Fr @jrakove.bsky.social

If the Supreme Court thinks universal injunctions are unconstitutional, to wait until *now* to say that, in this of all cases, with this of all presidents, is a devastating indictment of both its impartiality and its prudence.

Mamdani curated the soundtrack for the Disney movie from which this song is taken? And Teen Vogue did a whole story on how he and his friend came up with the story? And the only thing the media reports is that he wants to make bus rides free? www.teenvogue.com/story/queen-...

hey man no joke but congrats to Eliza Dushku ew.com/eliza-dushku...

The third and second to last comments marked A are from the co-host, not Mamdani, but yes, this is the conversation that caused all the ruckus, and I think Mamdani comes off as Good For The Jews

Someone on an NYC subreddit was saying they’d heard he wanted to shut down all the bodegas! People are wild.

“And let me tell you a little secret: most New York Jews really *like* New York’s diversity. We like that it attracts the Mamdanis of the world. We like sharing it with people of lots of different backgrounds. That’s what makes us feel safe and happy here.” This whole essay is great, go read

A fascinating map from @donnermaps.bsky.social overlaying Tuesday's Dem primary results with a map of the NYC subway system. Inspired by an astute observation from @kleinman.bsky.social, who noted that Mamdani did better in areas served by the subway while Cuomo did better in car-centric areas.

Design: it’s good!

LRT: one of my great grandfathers, born in Ukraine, was named Aaron — but I recently learned his name was actually Avrom (his friends called him Abe). I have to guess someone registering immigrants misheard!

Always loved the people who are like, "But my ancestors came here the legal way!" and by that they mean they arrived via ratship to an island, a man asked them their name, they were like, "Uh, Jeff... Smith?" another guy said "sure?" and then they became permanent residents of the United States.

I agree, but Schumer isn’t up for re-election till 2028. COO of a successful NYC would be a great launching pad for a primary if he wants to run

We may be spared a Cuomo general election race after all (from the NYT liveblog)

Same (except girl, of course)

Where I grew up in Brooklyn went Cuomo +35 in the first round; where I live now it’s Mamdani +25

… Maybe time for old-school Dems to look at this campaign and see the future

what’s funny is that if pro-cuomo centrist democrats were less myopic they might see that mamdani was running the kind of campaign that could help rebuild the party brand — accessible with an outsider persona and a focus on “kitchen table” issues.

The white house wants to cut off access to crucial records of the country's history these are archives created by the American public, and they ought to be much more reasonably accessible to the public

Ok maybe SpaceX can’t do something that has never been done before, like launch a reusable rocket with a huge payload into orbit without blowing it up. But to be fair, it also can’t do something that is done all over the world every day, like keep a crane upright.

what 👏 about 👏 your bagel 👏 order 👏

The temperature at JFK Airport has reached 101° F as of 12:30pm today. This breaks the previous monthly record of 99° F, making today the hottest June day on record at that climate station.

New Yorkers deserve a mayor who a) lives here and b) likes New York City. It's actually not too much to ask.
