Sat in the garden, reading, while two sparrows dash in and out of a gap in our gutter to feed their babies, a rob clear spiders out the ivy, some blackbirds feed their young nesting on the other side of the garden, and a wood pigeon stomps around in the middle. Life could be worse ya know..

I will never get over the fact that the English language uses the word vanilla - the second most expensive spice by weight, which mostly grows in Madagascar and Indonesia and has to be pollinated by hand - to mean boring, plain or basic

The idea that First Past the Post "keeps out the extremes" assumes that it will always be Labour or the Tories who get a disproportionate share of seats. One day, it may be the radical right winning far more seats than their vote-share deserves. Derbyshire (⬇️) may prove a signpost, not an anomaly.

I spent years not being able to afford to eat properly after paying rent on a bedsit. Indeed I couldn't afford to heat it when I had pneumonia cos the coin operated energy meter was outrageously expensive. Feel broke cos its too expensive to send two kids to private school? Cry me a fucking river.
