I simply do not understand how a NEWS ORGANIZATION is basically existing in a stage of siege but very rarely conveys in its political coverage that we are in a state of emergency

"We cannot give everyone a trial," says the president of these United States.

NEW: Mahmoud Khalil's wife gave birth to their child without him after ICE denied their request to let him be present. “This was a purposeful decision by ICE to make me, Mahmoud, and our son suffer,” Dr. Abdalla said. “My son and I should not be navigating his first days on earth without Mahmoud."

REUTERS POLL: “.. Some 59% of respondents - including a third of Republicans - said America was losing credibility on the global stage.” @reuters.com www.reuters.com/world/us/tru...

I have my problems with any Pope, by definition But you gotta hand it to Papa Francisco for coining the phrase "theirs is the construction site of hell" in a description of American fascism and then dying almost immediately afterward

Pope Francis has died this morning at the age of 88. His final message, on Easter Sunday, called for an end to “deplorable” violence in Gaza, Sudan and around the world www.vaticannews.va/en/pope/news...

Was this Bukele’s play all along? He creates his own political prisoners in order to swap them?

It is not the least bit an exaggeration that anybody else who did this would already be sitting in pre-trial detention.

This is further evidence of Hegseth potentially endangering the lives of American soldiers. The appropriate response from the US government would be to open a counterintelligence investigation and possibly a criminal one www.nytimes.com/2025/04/20/u...

it just often hits me in the gut that the entire federal government of the united states, one of the largest and most powerful organizations in history, is currently being run by about two dozen people whom you could not trust to competently wash a car

All this because they didn’t have a hotel pre-booked when they arrived. Insane.

A 19-year old U.S. citizen was traveling from Albuquerque to Tucson. He was arrested and detained by ICE for 10 days, before his family showed a judge his identification & he was finally released. news.azpm.org/p/news-artic...

this is such good news. i think it is also an opportunity for democrats to state forthrightly that when they win power again everyone responsible for this crime will be held accountable to the fullest extent of the law and will face the american people to answer for their lawlessness

How pissed is Trump about this?

I said my main goal of this trip was to meet with Kilmar. Tonight I had that chance. I have called his wife, Jennifer, to pass along his message of love. I look forward to providing a full update upon my return.

That’s right… Bill Kristol?

Following Senator VH today.

Jewish classmates of Mohsen Mahdawi speak out— One, an IDF refuser, recalls how Mohsen met with Zionists, including those cruel to him—or how, while seeking to heal campus, he even expressed sympathy for administrators (the same who ignored his pleas for help). "Most profound person I've ever met"

The what process??

What the judge is doing here is using the authorities that are most clearly within her power to make life extremely difficult for the government and keep the case in the public eye. People can reasonably disagree, but I think this is the most effective way of getting compliance.

I am just ready to explode with rage and fury. He was hiding by taking a union job and going to work every day? Based on what we know, he could be a "father of the year" candidate, and Bondi has ZERO evidence to the contrary. I know that "all governments lie," but this is reaching satanic levels

The repression of people opposing a US-backed genocide has always been a bipartisan project, and until it's not we're not going to be able to beat the Trump regime

It's genuinely hard to express to sort of normal not politically plugged in non-lawyers *how* lawless the Trump administration is, and I think that's some part of the problem. You sound like you're hyperventilating, but it's just a flat description of what is going on.

Since the Trump admin continues to claim Mr. Abrego Garcia is a gang member, I thought I'd take the time to put together a timeline, based on all the documents filed in court, which lays out all the "evidence" the government has ever offered. As you'll find out, there's very little "there" there!

important context about the concentration camps in el salvador:

I have moments of despair when I can’t believe people are carrying on with their everyday lives as if what is happening is simply run of the mill administration of the government.

This was my classmate. He was a student in my ethics class, and we used to sit next to each other. Most dedicated person in the class to legitimate justice for all people. He legitimately cared. I am so horribly heartbroken

bloomberg: ~90% of deported migrants to el salvador had no criminal record

The president told a Central American dictator to build five more massive slave labor camps to hold US citizens.

We are at a dangerous, dangerous moment in US history, where the President of the United States is threatening to send US citizens to be imprisoned by a foreign ally, and the foreign ally is saying it won't respect an US court orders to release people that it's holding.

Fucking evil

I M P E A C H

We're in The Bad Place, folks. The existence of an overseas gulag to which you - yes, you personally - can be sent with no recourse marks the end of a whole period of American history. There's no going back after this. Even if these guys are defeated, the new order will have to look much different.

I hope I live to see Stephen Miller handcuffed in a dock at The Hague
