Call for Papers for the 6th 'Middle Ages in Modern Games Asynchronous Conference' on 3-6 June is now available. The central themes this year are ‘Globalities’ and ‘Regionalities’. A great opportunity to share work in the field @midagesmodgames.bsky.social middleagesinmoderngames.net/announcement...

O congresso @midagesmodgames.bsky.social está com chamada aberta - e aceita papers em português! Se você vem do Brasil ou de outros países lusófonos e trabalha com Idade Média/Medievalismo em games, não deixe essa oportunidade passar! #medievalsky #gamingthepast #historygames

It's that time of the year again. The asynchronous MAMG is returning! Have any paper pitches about premodern games and/or medievalism? Are you developing a medievalist game and want feedback from historians and colleagues? We'd love to hear from you! #gtp #historygames #medievalsky

Regionalities, huh?! Well, this time I've got the paper plan in place before I saw the call. Finally time to start on the "lawscape" piece I've been mulling¹ ¹ putting off 😉

We're delighted to open the Call for Papers for the sixth Middle Ages in Modern Games Asynchronous Conference: Globalities and Regionalities (3-6 June 2025). The themes are 'Globalities' and 'Regionalities' with deadline 3 May. Details below and here: middleagesinmoderngames.net/announcement...

It's the last day of the Call for Papers for our Games strand at the Middle Ages in the Modern World conference on 24-26 June in London and online. Don't forget to get your abstracts in!

Last week to submit an abstract to our strand at MAMO 2025. If you're interested in medievalist games, or in theoretical explorations of temporalities in games, we'd love to hear from you!

There's still time to get abstracts in for the Middle Ages in Modern Games strand for the MAMO conference this year. Attendance in London or online. Deadline is Friday and we'd love to see you in June!

The excellent Middle Ages in the Modern World conference is back next year, and we're taking a strand on Medievalist Games! We've got a particular focus on 'Temporalities'. Call for Papers deadline 10 January for event 24-26 June at Kings College London. middleagesinmoderngames.net/announcement...

Very happy that has come out just before the holiday, and with my own piece in there on Law & Violence (Gobbitt 2024: 44-50), taking a first look at the intersection of the Lombard laws and TTRPGs (and which I'm even now planning to expand into a full chapter/article in the coming years!) 🎲⚔️⚖️

If you're after some open access reading on games and medievalism over the break, then @midagesmodgames.bsky.social have you covered. This year's conference proceedings are out now.

This year, we've got a whole 172 pages worth of scholarship on medievalist games! This conference never ceases to impress me. So glad to be part of the team! #gamingthepast

Just in time for Christmas, the proceedings of The Fifth Middle Ages in Modern Games are out now! They includes a vast range of short articles dealing with a plethora of subjects relating to the medieval world and medievalism in games of all sorts. issuu.com/theuniversit...

This is rather exciting. The Middle Ages in the Modern World is coming back (with online attendance available by the looks of it). It's a great excuse to get a bunch of medievalist games scholars together too...

Might be of interest of many here?? First idea that popped in my head is how @volko.bsky.social Levy & Campaign rules model the uncertainty regarding the time commitment of Lords and their forces during the Middle Ages

@markusmindrebo.bsky.social, Arturo Mariano Iannace, and @robehoughton.bsky.social have been putting the finishing touches to this year's Middle Ages in Modern Games Conference Proceedings. It's out next month, but here's an idea of the scale of the volume...

If you're not already following @midagesmodgames.bsky.social and you're at all interested in medieval history and medievalism in games of all sorts then you're going to want to give them a follow. They've got a stream of publications and calls for paper coming up in the next month or so.

Polishing tomorrow's #IMC2024 presentation as part of the @midagesmodgames.bsky.social strand tomorrow. I'll be presenting on the richness of the sonic world presented in 'Pentiment' by the reconsideration of the voice as non-sounding.
