It’s #ReadAcrossAmericaWeek! These picture books recommended by Densho Content Director Brian Niiya help to introduce the incarceration story to young readers. densho.org/catalyst/jap...

S… snowkyo?

At the Asian American Journalists Association Lunar New Year banquet in Seattle tonight, I felt I had to say what is apparent .... That in the last six weeks our nation has been turned upside down. As journalists, there are people in power who want to put us in jail for doing our job. 1/3

Today is #DrSeussDay, marking the cartoonist and author’s birthday. Dr. Seuss, born Theodor Seuss Geisel, is best known for his beloved children’s books. But he also published more than 400 political cartoons, many of them depicting racist and anti-Japanese sentiments.

Dear you, be well today. Love me. And sakura.

May we all someday feel as loved as that one Kawazu sakura tree in full bloom outside Odawara castle today 😉

Miura Kaigan was a zoo today but for reasons.

The Keikyu is a pretty train 🥰

Be the mejiro you want to see on your apocalyptic news feed.

From the top of Hikifune Yokado, wishing you all the happiest Friday you can muster 🫡

I took my parents to see Kameido Tenjin today and it was totally because of 親孝行 and not because I’m obsessed with plums 😅

We interrupt your regularly scheduled morning plum blossom appreciation session to announce the arrival of the Kawazu sakura in Tokyo 🎉

One last run for our train setup before I have to clear out the tatami room for my parents who arrive in Tokyo tonight. (Yes, my kids are at school right now. Yes, I am playing trains by myself. What’s your point.)

Hide-and-Seek fail

Seeing as this has become a Topic again, I’ve dug up a thing my kid did a couple yrs ago to remind everyone that without neurodivergence the world would not have this lovely 8 1/2 year old drawing the insane Tokyo metro system from memory with a box of crayons. (Also I just fucking love this video.)

Good morning, good people. Here are many suns.

Ryoumo line, Tochigi prefecture, near Iwafune station, bothering some birds. Condensed to fit your feed.

According to my new Kingfisher ojiichan friends, there is a Shitamachi area Kingfisher who hunts at a certain spot at 大横川親水公園 every day at late afternoon, without fail, except for that one time she ate a whole frog and disappeared for two days. They were very concerned about her then (お腹壊したかな).

in light of our madness

One of my prouder moments from the hell site…

Ok but can somebody please agree with me that the cute little cable car that takes you on that steep AF incline halfway up Mt. Takao is utterly terrifying?

I don’t know who needs to hear this right now, but here’s a small ginger announcing your train transfers as you approach Shinjuku station.

Today we got really excited after acquiring the free green car seats on the Chuo Line (until 3/15!) that we wanted to stay seated for quite a while and now we are somehow in Takao can you see my tower???

Sumida ku 🥰

The peacock on the top of the tree

Nefarious Chic

And then our focus was lost to the night again

sadly I begin to fear this is the closest thing to Snowkyo we will ever get this year

A moment’s rest.

For the fish in your life, some nightmare fuel.

hold on to the light

So the best thing just happened I finally made friends with the informal association of kingfisher photography appreciating ojiichans who always gather at 大横川親水公園 and there was one dude who carries around prints of his bird photos and I admired his work so profusely that he gave the photos to me!

2025, but in Minowa.
