If you're a fan of #meshtastic in the USA, consider writing your representative and making a comment to the FCC regarding proceeding 25-133. The 915 MHz is unlicensed and open to the public, but that's not set in stone.

I've had lots of hobbies over the years, but making contacts on amateur radio is the most fun I've had in a long time.

Recently migrated my little #meshtastic BBS backend from sqlite3 to Postgres. Why? Because I had to learn Postgres for a work project. It's overkill I'll admit, but now it has a lovely #docker compose stack and is very future proof for new features.

I need some help from the #meshtastic gang. I had a node in my window and it had decent connectivity. I move that same node to my roof and suddenly I have zero packets coming in. Any ideas?

New feature alert in the developing branch for #meahtastic listener! Users can program waypoints for quick distribution. Users send a message with `!waypoints` to the server node to have their map auto-populate with important POIs with a client timeout of 7 days. github.com/migillett/Me...

Just bumped my little #meshtastic BBS to v1.0.0. I still have plenty more ideas on the way too. Spin up docker, connect your node, and give it a try. github.com/migillett/Me...

Sqlalchemy is appropriately named. The way it's cleaned up my old sqlite query functions is amazing. And the error codes too.

Got some late-night inspiration and built a #meshtastic server that can accept and reply to commands (such as !reply). Now public on GitHub at version 0.0.5. github.com/migillett/Me... What sort of server commands would you find useful?

It's amazing what a simple antenna upgrade can do. Went from 0 #meshtastic neighbors to 11 and counting.

Python is great for getting code down fast until you forget about dataclass mutability. And then the pain begins.

Any #meshtastic groups in the Atlanta area? Feel like I'm pinging into the void sometimes.
