Sharing because I don't think I have on here before: This is a bill of sale from 1851, when my 5x great-grandfather (and namesake), Griffin Brander, a free man of color, followed his wife and daughters from Virginia to Missouri and bought them out of slavery. (He would free them in 1856).

My dad sent us pics of my Aunt Carmen with all 3 of us siblings. She had so much love for all her nieces & nephews, and she was definitely everyone's favorite aunt. (My other aunts & uncles already know this & they're OK with it. She was their favorite too).
