New episode of @infiniteescaperoom.bsky.social is out! This one was an absolute pleasure to co-host, as cognitive load in escape rooms is a really interesting topic. Escape rooms can borrow (and perhaps should) borrow a lot from puzzley video games with this.

I miss hair a little bit. I miss proper youth a lot.

This evening we fixed our cooker. It's the third time I've had the guts out of it in 9 years and we're still very chuffed to keep the thing kicking. It was second hand when we bought it, so the thing owes nothing to anyone.

I look forward to facing tonight's inevitable baby plop in the bath armed with friendship and a colander. Cheers @dannynicholls.bsky.social you wonderful bloke.

I'm noticing a direct correlation in how incoherent and dickish I am with how much sleep and coffee I've had. Interesting.

This made my weekend: www.open.ac.uk/blogs/ALSPD/...

Crikey the stuff that's come out about how Meta nakedly pirated stuff to train their AI is mad. Smoking gun, person holding gun, person saying 'it was me I did it' next to the body of copyright. Even with this I'm not confident UK or US courts are going to do owt about it...

My 1 year old daughter's favourite game this weekend was lifting up my jumper and slapping my flabby belly with a tambourine.

🥁 Drumroll please .. The Infinite Escape Room has a new co-host! We're absolutely bloody delighted to announce that puzzlemaker extraordinaire @mairispaceship.com has joined us as a co-host. Mairi's puzzlemaking skills are second to none and she's worked with some heavy hitters in the industry.

If you're going to put eye drops in the eyes of a sleeping baby, for the love of god don't do it after you yourself planned to go to bed. That way lies sadness for all involved

I just ate so much rotisserie chicken that I think I might need to have an early night

You know your local GP surgery is bad when you get a letter from your MP saying parliament are considering deconsecrating it

I vibe with this. I do some of my best stuff out of spite.

There's something really special about catching the moment your kid falls asleep. It's such an amazing transition - it's just on to off in a matter of seconds.

New episode alert! It's sustainability meets Jurassic Park, but were we so preoccupied with whether or not we could, we didn't stop to think if we should? www.pedagodzilla.com/what-can-jur...

A friend of mine revealed he used Pedagodzilla to help put his baby to sleep. I am genuinely flattered

Gyoza are fucking brilliant

Just published the last of the Playful Learning 2024 recordings, with a look back at how the conference started, where play sits in practice, and some top tips for submitting an abstract for 2025. Submissions are open now folks! www.pedagodzilla.com/playful-lear...

I am now near enough to my forties that the most exciting part of the week is batch cooking a couple of litres of chilli con carne, because that means I get to have chilli on toast for breakfast the next day .

Why was I not informed that @charlixcxofficial.bsky.social slaps?

Baked beans are great

Well hello wobbly bits, goodness knows how you happened.

Crikey Ogmore is a gorgeous part of the world. Of all the places in South Wales to wander to in a failed attempt to get the baby to nap, this was the wettest.

After three days of culinary hedonism my attempt to cook something healthy ended in shame and mush

Last years resolution was to get the girl out for some fresh air every day, which barring a couple of illnesses I managed. Racking my brains for an achievable resolution for 2025 which will work with my energy depleted carcass. Top of the list atm is a nap a day.

Ye gods why didn't Kaos get a second season? Just finished season 1 and it was the best thing I'd watched in ages

Christmas eve was a record breaker for us. A 9 hour bedtime with baby Hayley that went until 3.30am. Will we have a Christmas miracle and all get to sleep tonight? Let's find out!

Crumbs as of this week I've been working for the @openuniversity.bsky.social for 10 years. Some ups and downs along the way, but overall it's been a pretty positive professional decade.

Finished the Wild Bastards story campaign yesterday and loved it. A nice compact, pick up and put down indie shooter which didn't outstay it's welcome. Need more bitesize indie fun!

Word of the day is ‘forswunk’ (13th century): exhausted by work. I like to add ‘foreswunk’, exhausted before you even begin.

The Seafort Saga is absolutely scrumptious

Is it just me, or is #bluesky 90% @scalzi.com or @scalzi.com adjacent content? Not that I mind, it's just that I'm starting to think of it as #bluescalzi, which sounds like a series of short naughty sci-fi stories.

Here's the latest episode of the Pedagodzilla #podcast: Grand Theft Auto or Mario? Which design philosophy makes for a better curriculum? With my fab cohost @markchilds.bsky.social and our guest Luke Pearce...who doesn't seem to be on Bluesky yet...doh! www.pedagodzilla.com/gta-or-mario...
