There's some good stuff in the Water Special Measures Bill that got Royal Ascent today. My quote made it into the press release - quite far down (must try harder!) www.gov.uk/government/n...

A proper mystery. It's an incredibly bleak yet beautiful part of Wales. BBC News - Body in wetsuit found in reservoir puzzles police www.bbc.com/news/article...

Whatever next? This won't change a thing. Clever scientists will keep on being inquisitive and, as the article points out, just find other names for their research. #ClimateChange www.theguardian.com/environment/...

Wow, leakage as high as 80% in some places in Greece. And a knock on impact is an over reliance on plastic bottled water. Very interesting article. www.independent.co.uk/news/world/e...

Don't expect any @petshopboys.music-social.com.ap.brid.gy concert dates in Russia to be announced any time soon. #PetShopBoys

Energy Smart meter roll out has been pretty poor, yet smart meters are on the march in water. Are they worth having and can they be trusted? These questions and more answered in this episode of Waterfall, the podcast from @ccwvoice.bsky.social #water #smartmeters podcasts.apple.com/gb/podcast/8...

Who'd have thought it, water from clouds!?! I do have some questions about where 17000 square metres of mesh could fit in a city? Love to see it attempted on a large scale. BBC News - Fog harvesting could provide water for arid cities www.bbc.com/news/article...

Lots in the news about water bills and some water companies wanting to push them up even further. If you want to stay ahead of the increases, check out this episode of Waterfall to find out how! podcasts.apple.com/gb/podcast/8...

Really insightful "deep listening" of water consumers from @ccwvoice.bsky.social More obvious concerns around pollution, leakage and bills; less obvious are smart meters, company finances and drinking water quality. All these issues need action to rebuild trust. www.ccw.org.uk/publication/...

Here’s what we said at @ccwvoice.bsky.social about the water companies appealing their water price settlement to the CMA… www.ccw.org.uk/news/custome...

If water companies don't like Ofwat's decisions on water bills rises they can appeal to the CMA (as six have chosen to do). If consumers don't like the proposed rises, they don't have that same right of appeal. This imbalance needs to shift in favour of consumers. www.theguardian.com/business/202...

Two more water companies contest Ofwat's decisions and essentially want to raise prices further. We'll know the full extent of the challenges to Ofwat by the end of today. Loads of detail sit behind these appeals. www.theguardian.com/business/202...

Interesting, there are not many articles that look at other sources of water pollution, beyond water companies. BBC News - Campaign encourages connection to sewage network www.bbc.com/news/article...

Bizarre! Who'd have thought a fatberg would stop a Brian Adams concert? www.theguardian.com/australia-ne...

Love these stories! Whatever next will be inappropriately disposed of down the loo? Remember just pee, poo and paper should be flushed 🚽 🪠 BBC News - Wing mirrors and engine cover found blocking sewer www.bbc.com/news/article...

"The court heard on Tuesday that Thames Water will end up paying £200m to advisers in the first half of this year" Someone is doing rather well out of this mess, unfortunately it's not consumers. www.theguardian.com/business/202...

No great surprise that high costs are putting many people off rail travel. This must be urgently sorted. Need climate tax on internal flights in mainland UK and use that to subsidise rail fairs. #Rail #SustainableTransport #ClimateEmergency www.theguardian.com/money/2025/f...

Until rail ticket prices come down and plane ticket prices go up this target will never be met. Loads of people fly to Scotland from other parts of the UK (and vice-versa) because it's cheeper than rail. BBC News - Scotland 'unlikely' to hit 2030 car use climate target www.bbc.co.uk/news/article...

Hey @aroundthefunnel.bsky.social enjoying the Dundee v Hearts commentary on Hearts TV. @lauriedunsire.bsky.social you don't usually apologise for the audio issues in most matches 🤣 (I'm fine for you to reply with a four letter response). Keep up the great work.

44% of households in England and Wales are already cutting back on essentials like food and heating in order to pay their bills, including water according to new research by CCW. Find out how you can stay ahead of water bill rises in the latest edition of Waterfall. open.spotify.com/episode/72Zi...

This article shows how culture impacts the number of people who can swim. It's great we've got a target in England for all kids to be able to swim 25m before they finish primary school - that will save lives. www.theguardian.com/world/2025/f...

It's misleading to compare survey results about drinking water quality based on data from 148 countries because there are very different standards. In the UK we have some of the highest standards in the world and world class drinking water. news.sky.com/story/should...

Just finished this excellent book by @rosatkins.bsky.social. Probably should have read it before giving evidence at the EFRA select committee... (every day's a school day!)

Who cannot be saddened or deeply concerned by these actions on day 1? www.theguardian.com/us-news/2025...

This is probably the smartest I've dressed in years at today's EFRA (environment) select committee in Westminster 😀 #water

How do water consumers feel towards their water company? Why do we need better affordability support in water? Why are bills going up so much? All these issue discussed today at the EFRA (environment) select committee. You can watch it here parliamentlive.tv/event/index/...

In Westminster today giving evidence to the EFRA (Environment) select committee on behalf of water consumers. Having never done one before it was an interesting and nerve-wracking experience. Always good to put the consumer perspective across. #water #pollution #consumers
