Looking forward to greeting several thousand people over the next two weeks!

Wish INCIDENT had won and proud of @billmorrison.bsky.social

Was hoping that Emil Jannings reference was a segue to mentioning that THE WAY OF ALL FLESH is a lost film.

I saw The Poseidon Adventure multiple times in the theater as a 12 year old and all these years later believe it's one of Gene Hackman's greatest performances.

I can't unsee this now, but at least the quadrant "cores" are color coded? (This is one of the three Library Of Congress buildings, btw. It's no Jefferson, bless it).

Dazed and confused to see my name in the Becoming Led Zeppelin end credits. Can’t recall why!

Nice thread on William S. Hart, long a favorite. You can watch THE BARGAIN on the Library of Congress National Screening Room, preserved from a paper print, one of the last registered for copyright. www.loc.gov/item/2012600...

welcome to our new neighbors

So what are Dreiser's "six worst pictures" of 1931? * Alexander Hamilton * Bad Girl * Bought * A Free Soul * The Front Page * The Road to Singapore The naturalist author really had a bee in his bonnet about the lack of "social value" in these films. (h/t Media History Digital Library)

If you know Teague you know she makes things better. Best kind of colleague. www.gofundme.com/f/help-teagu...

Happy Fred Ott Day to all who observe! Dan has a great article about the film and its various incarnations here: wp.nyu.edu/orphanfilm/2...

Proud to serve on the IndieCollect board

Bringing my FREE STUFF thread over. Lots of archives, national film institutes, nonprofits and others have made collections of silent films available for free, no signup needed. I have the links

Shamelessly using this brilliant article as an excuse to post a picture from that time I met Toshi Seeger and her husband.

Love going through a director's filmography in chron order, and this year it was Ozu (and UK Hitchcock). Have some Italians in mind for 2025.

embracing my unapologetic love for the Andy Hardy series #TCMParty

Essential resource for the study of early cinema now available!

Post you from a different era In a former life I was a grad student doing research on an immunoglobulin mutation found in a specific strain of rabbit called Basilea.

Final taping of the Austin City Limits 50th anniversary season! Best volunteer gig in town…

Fetched a group order at Chik-fil-A yesterday and instead of asking for Polynesian sauce mistakenly requested Peloponnesian and the teenager at the register asked if I wanted Athens or Sparta variety and now I feel a lot better about the Youths of America.

People of Bluesky. Let's get to know each other better. What is your favourite movie? Quote share your answer only in gif form.

As much as I enjoy @jamellebouie.net's op-eds, TikToks, and film podcast, he's also a terrific photographer. I have this print from Culpeper, VA, a few blocks from where I used to live.

Favorite photo you’ve taken this year
