Time quake by Vonnegut recognizes the dilemmas of author(artist)ship and originality, as well as the relative unimportance of approaching such things as a purist. Also, ruminating on the influences of free will vs. the illusion thereof. Nice followup read for Slaughterhouse Five.

there are many forms of communication that are not story it frustrated as a visual artist and english teacher to have students refer to their middle school essays as stories i used my gentlest voice through gritted teeth to remind them "not everything's a story" we write in more forms than that
