I wonder if Software’s AI thing is the same as when everyone decided hvac and plumbing jobs were for a underclass. All the plumbers in my town at 60+ years old. Are all the developers going to be 60+ years old in a decade or two?

I’m excited to see more organizations building the software that fits their needs rather than buying something that’s close and mashing their organization into that shape. Stuff like ERP systems can now just describe your company. Don’t need to pay oracle or whoever. Just add features you want.

Are people measuring the build vs buy dynamics of 2025 vs prior decades? Feels like build was vastly more expensive for a minor improvement over Excel for 99% of software until LLMs. Now writing a script to handle the data, a python app to do more complex stuff, a react frontend, etc… very easy.

I was listening to some old You’re Wronf Abouts earlier while driving and the Shaken Baby Syndrome one came up. Since it’s been 7 years, I was like “Wonder if Jeffery Havard was killed or freed”. Turns out neither. The justice system is simply awful when people are convicted during prosecution fads.
