Enjoying the Economic Blackout. Cancelled my Amazon Prime, took recycling, working on grassroots organizing in rural California, going to a virtual candidate forum, and fomenting resistance on good social media.

Here's what happened last night. Medicaid cuts are going to blow up state budgets and decimate nursing home placements for seniors. Hard times are coming.

It's about dismantling anything that inconveniences the billionaire class.

I see an opportunity to organize. It hasn't always been this way, it's not always going to be this way, it's just that way right now.

Why not? Pritzker at least hasn't threatened tariffs against Indiana to do something about Gary.

Don't get played. There are real threats but this move towards authoritarianism has limits. Be not afraid.

Trump Tariffs are going to push up prices. With the cold winter I don't want to think about natural gas (10% comes from Canada) prices.

Nonprofits provide essential social services cheaper and more humanely than the government. Losing or even pausing this funding is going to have ripple effects on our most vulnerable citizens. Sad.

We believe this is the beginning of something extraordinary: the start of a New Democratic Age. We are the New American Community, and we stand proudly with the pro-Democracy Alliance in fighting for a future rooted in hope, fairness, and collective progress.

Today, Donald Trump takes the oath of office. To his allies, this moment marks what they call the “end stage” of our republic—an age where power, privilege, and greed overshadow the ideals that built this nation. But we reject their politics of cynicism.

The Leavenworth office of the New American Community is up and running. We sent out our County Party Organization Survey this morning. I've been pleased with the positive conversations with state party leaders. Onward and upward.

Tulsi Gabbard is profoundly unqualified. This story must have leaded from the Republican Senators she met with. I hope they send a message and she is quietly withdrawn. share.newsbreak.com/ax8mikwy

We should be reducing the work week and addressing inequality. It's not going to happen through a regulatory scene anytime soon. We need to negotiate it as workers or design it that way as job creators.

The New American Community salutes Jimmy Carter on his National Day of Rememberance. His honesty & integrity are a sharp counterpoint to the politics of today. We've put together a virtual condolence/thank you card for the Carter family. Please consider taking part. zfrmz.com/ljHvjD51SP8h...

Jan 6 has become a day of infamy. Today the New American Community is reclaiming it for democracy, as we launch our County Party Outreach Project to engage, support, and enliven County Party organizations to transform their communities by listening and developing plans based on local conditions.

Made a sweet potato pie with my leftovers. Since I'm trying to win hearts and minds I covered the top in honeyed pecans.

For Giving Tuesday I reached out to a flagship nonprofit who had previously asked me to serve on their advisory board. Part of being successful is giving back as you are able. Nonprofits need our time, talent, and treasure so we can have a thriving civil society and a comprehensive safety net.
