Here’s Pepper wondering why his humans don’t pet him the exact moment he decides he wants to be scritched. 🌶️ 🐈‍⬛ 🤔

Here’s some pictures of Pepper, who hopes you all got through the winter storms OK. Pepper did just fine but he seems a little disappointed with our latest grocery shopping. 🌶️ 🐈‍⬛ ☹️ 🛒

My favourite depressed bot is finally getting some airtime !

My doomscrolling has led me down some dark algorithmic rabbit holes. Dammit, I need more cat pictures! (and more stories about literature) (and cute doggies too. Doggies are OK.)

“Maybe what the world needs now are some good, old-fashioned, greatest generation types who give more than they take.”

At the NATO meeting a loud US republican saw my CDN flag pin on my lapel and reached for it saying, "Hey Canada." I stopped him. "Don't touch the Canadian flag." "Just joking," he said. "You'll die before you touch our flag," I said, "not joking." He scrambled out of there. #notfuckingaround

For my America friends: Charlie’s a punk musician, prolific author, and federal politician who compared the orange demagogue to a syphilitic Al Capone.

Pepper did not jump into my arms when I got home after a long weekend away, but he did wake up. Within a few minutes, he was swatting at me, and then soon he was rubbing his little wet nose all over me and purring loudly I love the fuzzy little guy. 🌶️ 🐈‍⬛ 🖤

Weird window photo

My brother in law is using his snowblower to clear his driveway. I’m staying dry and warm, documenting his efforts from the comfort of his living room.

It’s snowy here in Ottawa

Pepper would like to quote the Quakers Our truth is an ancient one: that love endures and overcomes; that hate destroys; that what is obtained by love is retained, but what is obtained by hatred proves a burden. 🌶️ 🐈‍⬛ 🖤

Are you not eating well because you are too depressed / anxious / distracted / overwhelmed by existential despair? This free downloadable cookbook will help you avoid malnutrition and scurvy. Shout out to @jdnicoll.bsky.social for reminding me this fabulous book exists

98% full moon, waining after a snowstorm

Pepper’s mood today; fluffy yet sad 🌶️ 🐈‍⬛ 😿

Pepper tried to glare me into submission this morning, but I kept giggling at the little pink tongue. 🌶️ 🐈‍⬛ 👅

Up here in the Great White North, Google Maps tells that the Gulf of Mexico has two names.

Another lovely sunset after a cold day in Toronto. There’s a new storm on the way.

The two faces of Pepper: Resignation when I told him that I was going to be leaving him alone for TWO ENTIRE HOURS! Reproachful when I returned home EXACTLY ON TIME! 😞🌶️ 🐈‍⬛ 😾

Pepper is mad that I got back from my physio appointment late, so apparently he’s going to just sit on the couch and ignore me and my attempts to pet him. 🌶️ 🐈‍⬛ 😾

A smile to start your week

Pepper, waiting stoically for his crunchy treats. 🌶️ 🐈‍⬛ 😑

Back when the orange demagogue was first elected I turned down an American artist residency and an arts council travel grant. It was my personal protest against myopic discriminatory conservatism. Now it’s every progressive artist’s obligation to speak out against repression and authoritarianism

Don’t you have an image of your grumpy black cat on your welcome mat? 🌶️ 🐈‍⬛ 😾

We had a few inches of snow overnight here in Toronto and tonight’s sunset is quite pretty. There’s a waxing gibbous moon hiding in the east. My injured right arm is now strong enough to hold a smartphone. Big fancy camera comes next, after some physiotherapy.

I stand with the trans community. Pass it along.

“This is precisely the time when artists go to work. There is no time for despair, no place for self-pity, no need for silence, no room for fear. We speak, we write, we do language. That is how civilizations heal.” Toni Morrison writing in 2015
