Making a #StarChart myself using the #hipparcos catalogue. I converted all data like RA, DEC, PLX und Vmag into x, y, z and Vmag_absolut. With that I can reconstruct the RA, DEC and Vmag. It is intended to show changes to #constellation (missing) while observing from other systems.

#PartialSolarEclipse happening just now. Well, taking image second after second. 😅 Clouds may cover the sun sometimes but I just go with it. No worries, I am using a #BaaderFoil, this is a filter that block more than 99% of the sun light.

An easy #code, an #animation done in #python. It shows the location of 300 of the brightest #stars with #annotations (label of their names) seen from our solar system (centrum, yellow dot). The range on the axis is about ± 50LY. (I need to figure out how dots do not disappear once out of the cube.)

Sooo, that happened… I tried to “dry” a #hygroscopic #crystal ( #sylvine, #KCl) from a set of minerals and the plastic box melted… I thought it would be able to withstand 100°C… Damn, well, new box arrived (crystals have been transferred). Shopping list: porcelain cup that doesn’t melt at 100°C. 🤣🤣🤣
