Well that's the UK PHP Conference over, and conference-posting has ended. Service will resume again soon. Time to go back to lurking and re-posting stuff relating to trans rights and trying to spread awareness of the challenges we're facing right now.

Finally tracked down the root cause of an outage under peak load of our data collection service at work. Turns out we were triggering Cloudflare's DDoS protection. One config change later, and we're back to successfully serving 1 million+ requests per minute.

I'm partially deaf in one ear, which makes understanding speech a lot of effort, and very draining. Especially in noisy locations. Just tried some good noise cancelling earbuds today while out and about, and it's just such a relief, like a massive energy drain has been turned off.
