A Christ follower cannot tolerate that which belittles someone's sacred worth.

Cool.

This is not someone to admire. This is the table Jesus would flip.

It's telling that we read the story of Jesus feeding thousands with some bread and a couple of fish and think "wow, Jesus does cool miracles." And not recognize it as a lesson about sharing communal resources to ensure no one goes hungry.

Peter, James, and John, fishermen, were looked at in this same way in ancient Roman-controlled Palestine (Judea/Judah, Samaria, Galilee) by the powers that be. Jesus emboldened them. Empowered them. Gave them dignity. We are to do the same.

Solidarity with those under the thumb of power is a gospel issue

The amount of power Russia has over the president and certain news networks is alarming

Chuck Schumer has an exciting plan to appeal to younger voters and is at this moment recording his own dis track against Drake.

"We're not a democracy, we're a #constitutional #republic." An attempt to sound smart, but in reality, ignorant. Knowing a constitutional republic is a representative #DEMOCRACY is basic middle school social studies.

"Americans will understand" that billionaires won't be affected by the completely avoidable price increases about to hit us. No, Mr. President, we don't. #tariffs

"There are homiletical spirits that pimp God's people for profit rather than being God's prophets." - Rev. Dr. Luke Powery

"When a book [ #bible] can become more important than a human body, what have we become? - Rev. Dr. Luke Powery

"Born-Again Christian," Speaker Mike Johnson, finds the teachings of Jesus to be divisive, political, and too radical. Let that sink in. . #inauguration #jesus #christianity #congress

Sinus infection brain fog is real 😳🥴

Franklin Graham sold out Jesus for thirty pieces of silver. Do not follow such "leaders" that cast their lot for power.

THREAD: Mr. Jeffress is showing us a classic example of idolatry. It's not the job of a preacher to make a leader "feel good." A preacher does not work for nor answer to the president or any leader. Their job is to preach God's truth with preferential treatment for the marginalized.

Bishop Mariann Edgar Budde Hero.

Well, that's a... take? (Amen, New Evangelicals)

The idolatry is strong with this one

THREAD: An accurate translation of the Lord’s Prayer from the Sermon on the Mount reveals that it’s actually a prayer for the impoverished to pray. . .

Four diseases, all connected, now threaten the nation’s social and moral health: racism, poverty, environmental devastation, and the war economy—sanctified by the heresy of Christian nationalism. - Rev. William Barber II

Remember kids, you, too, can be a hero if you "solve" the problem you created!

If you're using the #bible to defend #capitalism, then I'm not interested in your thoughts in sexual ethics.

The inauguration ceremony being moved inside because hell is freezing over is too on the nose.

Housing will continue to go up

I'm so thankful for the #GOP working for us ordinary Americans. The write-off for my private jet has come in really handy. Real legislation for real people 🙄

"Some of the nations most invested in biblical interpretation-US, England, Germany, and Israel-are also historically some of the most invested in the idea of their own exceptionalism and chosenness" - Christopher B. Hays

I've never understood the flex of "hard work." I don't value it. I value honest work. Quality work. Authentic work. Honorable work. Fair work. Righteous work. I value creative work. Smart work. Efficient work. I don't value hard work. Hard work doesn't define character.

I "love" the irony of senators/reps from states whose existence is subsidized by #California 's taxes have the gall to say we shouldn't send aid or restrict it with conditions. Blatant #hypocrisy

@smoffitt.bsky.social I think you will now forever be Smoffitt to me

"If you want to do violence in this world, you will always find the weapons. If you want to heal, you will always find the balm." – Rachel Held Evans, A Year of Biblical Womanhood

When we see narratives that blame the most vulnerable people for problems caused by the most powerful, I think it’s important to remember that this viral spread of misinfo is a more pervasive version of what the powerful have always done to defend themselves, with tech they steered in this direction

Yes, it's nature. But it's getting worse due to industrialization. John Dominic Crossan's take on God's earthly judgment, the wages of #sin is #death. It's not #God punishing us, it's simple "natural" consequences for our actions. . #lafires #helene #wildfire

One cannot worship God while not caring for God's creation. This is a theological issue.

#God, #Jesus, does not need our defense. God desires us to follow the example of Jesus, being #Christ 's body to the world.

We look for people who are poor through their own fault, and then claim we are willing to help the "worthy poor," but not the rest. Conveniently, we then conclude that the worthy poor are just a few, and that therefore no radical action is needed. - Justo González

(2/2) The poor throughout the world know that all of these, rather than providing an escape from their problems, generally have made them worse. The hope of the poor is grounded rather in the intolerability of the present situation. - Ignatio Ellacuría

(1/2) The hope is the poor is not grounded on general human kindness, nor in the goodwill of the powerful, nor in the dynamics of development. . .
