I'm easily pleased, just need a majestic sunset once in a while.

I wasn’t going to do this, but @perfumer-pia.bsky.social said I should! If you've read Basenotes for a number of years, you may have noticed we don't run many big editorial features any more. It's not that I don't want to, it's just the site doesn't bring in enough income for me to [1/2]

I'm jealous of people just starting to create perfume that now have access to resources like this amazingly designed booklet. James @filigreeandshadow.co , where were you when I started? Anyways, y'all go purchase this gem right now: www.filigreeandshadow.co/products/an-...

Terrifying.

Drafty Miskeo write up on my Substack. open.substack.com/pub/cuirderu...

Today's inspiration comes from these holographic blue and dark cacao truffles from @andersenpetra.bsky.social 🩵

In my dry ass fingers is my #sotd from Miskeo. Loving this green number from the set. It’s 🍇 like or maybe a violet. It’s a little retro but stays modern. My early fav from the set.

Miskeo - Brume (2022, Marie-Pierre Blanchette). A study in geranium which is cooled off w/ spruce or juniper & aquatic notes done well. The watery materials modify rather than bluntly hammer as they are oft to do. Minimal, yet done exceptionally well a la Filigree and Shadow. Cool & meditative. 👍

Well, I heard Blusky is the place to be. And what better way to kick off than posting about my bespoke perfume created by Marie @miskeoparfums.bsky.social

Day off wearing A way to say goodbye from my friend James @filigreeandshadow.co . Who knew that smelling like your mom's purse in the 80s would bring me so much comfort?

I'll be roaming the halls of Esxence in two weeks with samples of our current and next collection - hit me up if you want to smell stuff.

Testing opengraph stuff for social links (feel free to ignore, or not if you want to learn more about @miskeoparfums.bsky.social ) basenotes.com/brands/miske...

The utter delight of a lilac sky at 17h30 - of course it smells like L'Eau d'Hiver from Ellena.

Different scent perspectives: Today's scent is Feuille by @miskeoparfums.bsky.social which smells hay-like to me. I have had coriander and fresh green chilli from work colleagues. Fascinated by this, as I can see why they say it, but not how it reads for me at all. Does this happen to other people?

Our first collection conjures intimate vignettes taking place around a central scented theme, from which unfold rich layered stories. Through imagining perfume as symbols and metaphors, 'The Elements' spell the fragrant language of a life well-lived. miskeoparfums.com

@miskeoparfums.bsky.social Daim has been such a pleasant and personal scent for me. I have blotters at home with all the Miskeo scents and the last week I've been detecting a longlasting scent of "freshly cut green stems". Wonderful.

General transit strike in Berlin tomorrow means I'm in the studio today filling samples for a client presentation on Tuesday and creating a material kit for a class starting Friday. While watching Postcards from the edge. How's your Sunday?

Day off wearing Terram from D:SOL, pretending I'm on a hike in a coastal Mediterranean pine forest.

Friend: How many times have you watched Schitt's Creek? Me: Yes

I find the lack of kindness in people repulsive. Let someone go before you at the supermarket, hold the door, give up your seat.

"This is precisely the time when artists go to work. There is no time for despair, no place for self-pity, no need for silence, no room for fear. We speak, we write, we do language. That is how civilizations heal.” ― Toni Morrison

I haven't read The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy in a while. Might be time.

Very close second to the absolute joy of smelling perfumery materials for the first time is watching someone else's reaction - their surprise, their love at first sniff, their repulsion, their knowing.

The focus material for this year's Mouillette d'Argent competition is Cistus - quite a challenging material to work with. Good luck to the perfumers entering the competition! www.mouillettedargent.com/the-contest/
