My motivation bounces between "I'm hyperfixated on my creations and it brings me joy!" and "I've sunk literally hundreds of hours into this comic and haven't achieved much, what am I doing with my life?" Among many other things, making a webcomic is definitely a test of mental strength.

Black and Jack, Edmund's pet rats! They're named after Jack Black (the eccentric Victorian-era rat catcher, not the actor). They stay in Edmund's coat pockets and have "bitten him on the bollocks" before. They also find loose change in the street and give it to Edmund.
