House Democrats just formally introduced our joint resolution to terminate Trump's April 2nd declaration of emergency, which would eliminate the tariffs he announced last Wednesday.

So apparently there's a chance the Insurrection Act might be invoked on the 20th.

This whole tarriff thing makes me want to hurl. At this rate, all we can do is pray.

Boyle: It’s pretty striking that literally all Donald Trump had to do was nothing. He could sit there, watch Fox News all day, sit with the remote control, occasionally tweet, and then on weekends go down to Mar-a-Lago and play golf. But instead, he purposely went about ruining this economy.

YOU GUYS.

Very odd and questionably lawful prior restraint order out of Texas. The honor society Phi Theta Kappa is trying to prevent a critic named Toni Market from publishing a free book. They just got this bizarre order from a Texas judge prior-restraining it. /1 www.andthenshespokeup.com/wp-content/u...

When it comes to this "proof of citizenship" stuff, I find myself leaning more towards making it easier to have copies of one's birth certificate/passport/immigration papers on hand. It's just a solid foundation to have in general.

GOOD NEWS: We’ve secured a court order pausing the Trump Admin’s unlawful attempt to gut $11 billion in critical public health funding. This will keep funding flowing to help keep our communities healthy and protect us from public health threats. oag.ca.gov/news/press-r...

Tactically, this seems like a fantastic time for institutions (law firms, universities) and individuals (Repubs in Congress) who want to stand up to Trump. He's openly cratering the economy, the weakness of Elon's ability to buy elections was just revealed in Wisconsin. The emperor has no clothes.

Not only were there elections this week, the WI election was an essential *first* step in securing future elections. And, that election was won despite the richest man in the world using his wealth & power to influence the outcome. Democracy still matters. Those that say otherwise should be blocked.

Police across the US are on high alert over Tesla vandalism incidents, documents released by @propertyofthepeople.org show, with agents pointing to discourse over the best method for triggering a thermal runaway. The memos make clear FBI-DHS have only attributed the vandalism to "lone offenders."

I have no words.

I KNEW IT! NWS Louisville doesn’t have enough staffing to cover NWS surveys. They now have to verify tornadoes via social media pictures.

This is presented as some sort of heartwarming story, but it sucks shit www.washingtonpost.com/education/20...

So apparently the Prez not only wants a third term, but wants to run against Obama. Y'know what? Fuck it. Let it happen if push comes to shove.

I'm in a strange spot when it comes to these tarriffs. I'm just uneducated enough about economics to understand why the numbers would "make sense" in the admin's heads, but aware enough of expert opinion to know why they're stupid and an economic shotgun to the face.

Interesting. Senate votes 51-48 to revoke the "national emergency" Trump declared to unlock the (probably unconstitutional) power to impose these tariffs. The House could end this (specific) madness right now.

As a historian and queer lefty who normally isn't very optimistic about the American people, I've actually got a lot more positive outlook on the fascist resurgence being defeated decisively at the end of four years. Like, actual real hope. But it'd take too long to explain. So, instead...

Again, I wonder where all of these pro-Trump groups went? I've yet to hear *anything* about them beyond J6 pardons and that awkward neo-Nazi march in Columbus.

vibes are off the charts, and they aren't all there for Bernie

It's impressive how like every elite in America is badly misreading things

Andrew and Tristan Tate are on their way back to Romania. Good riddance to the Tate brothers. 👋

It’s another great day for our friends in Wisconsin to get out to early vote for Judge Crawford & her opponent has given you yet another great reason to do it! Show up, be heard by April 1. #DemVoice1

Y'know, if there's one aspect of tbe current admin that's underdiscussed, it's where all of those right-wing groups are. News orgs aren't reporting protests, but *nobody* is reporting *anything* about Proud Boys, 3%'ers, Oath Keepers, etc. Are they happy? Are they scared? I wonder…

Exhibit #1 in the case for 'why does the online leftwing response to Trump suck so hard right now.' This man is a director of response at one of the most prominent left-progressive media orgs in the country, and he's more concerned about booing the Obamas than blaming Republicans for all of this.

If you have a Dem Senator or Rep you need to raise hell right now. If they take Section 230 away, Bluesky is dead. DEAD. And we'll be forced to choose between ultra-censored walled gardens and 4chan-like cesspools. You will HATE it.

When a company gets this desperate, you know the bubble is about to pop.

Ok, I don't know how many times I gotta say it, but the US has a highly decentralized electoral system, to the point where it's not actually possible for Trump to just cancel elections. Like most of Trump's agenda, election interference relies heavily on the compliance of state and local govs.
