“Now the whole world got a key to my house” - A Black mama after you misplaced your house keys

As I currently learn how to use the Procreate app, I’ve composed this fun artwork, “Amethyst Night.”

In the spirit of it being #SpringAgain in the northern hemisphere, and the day of Biz Markie’s birth (April 8), here’s a recent painting by me. I’ve been playing this song every year since the time it was released. . 18”x18” Acrylic on cradled wood panel.

A latte arrangement I’ve painted recently, for the #FoodPaintChallenge. This was fun!

Here’s a fun exploration into an Impressionistic art style. This is one of my challenges to be less “realistic,” and enjoy placing bold brushstrokes in a sort of “strategically random” manner. Enjoy this badass cat. . Cat’s Not Impressed 8”x8” Acrylic on canvas paper

A reminder to eat your natural fruits; get your Vitamin C! . Sliced Oranges 8”x8” Acrylic on canvas paper

Fun acrylic paintings I've created in the last few weeks. Lately, I've been feeling the strong drive to paint more regularly.

Shoutout to the people who have found me/are finding me after my energetic departure from that other platform. I see that the decision years ago to use a memorable moniker has served me well.

Good song for our times. Henry Rollins/Rollins Band - "Liar" www.youtube.com/watch?v=GhKM...

My website, mistycreates.com, is now live! I put in many hours of work arranging elements throughout to get the presentations “just right.” This is a place for me to present myself as an artist, and ALSO as a solopreneur. Take a look throughout the rest of my site, and let me know your thoughts.

I have some yellows, I have some blues; I came up with a variety of luscious greens for some upcoming paintings. 💛+💙=💚

Nimona!!!! >>>>>> 🔥🤘🏾 Highly recommended if you’ve not yet watched it.

A tasty pastry in your timeline. Check out a moving, jazzy visual for the process: https://www.instagram.com/reel/Cvc0GdIp8XL/?igshid=MzRlODBiNWFlZA==

I’m currently experiencing those rare days in which, while physically hungry, I have little desire to eat. My appetite is passionately being channeled into creative work. Fortunately, I had a light leftover salad in the fridge to carry me through until I actually cook a meal later. 😄

Interesting to see the recent controversial shifts on this platform since I created an account in mid-June 2023. Oh, what a time.

let’s see, do I want an app where funny posters run riot and call what they’re doing “skeets” or do I want to be Connected With The Brands I Love? super tough call lol

Hey Bluesky, I need your help Misjudged when my bills would be taken out and overdrafted Would you consider reposting or buying my cookie recipes? https://ko-fi.com/theblacknerd/shop Or if you'd like to donate directly Paypal: @theblacknerd Venmo: TBN-WIGGINS Cashapp: $theblacknerd

All of a sudden artists are concerned about the future of social media. Losing a platform should not make a difference in your mission.

Black visual artists - mutuals or not - if you see this, I would love if you respond to it with some of your work!

when someone posts something shocking is that sacrebleusky

I’m your first follower and commentor. I like your powerful bio! 💜

I have 50 mini paintings I’ve created, that adorn the walls in my home. I’m on a journey of creating 50 more, with the intent of being more experimental. Taking a slower, scenic path, artistically. [30 sec. video: https://www.instagram.com/reel/Ct7ENZdqWjq/?igshid=YzcxN2Q2NzY0OA== ]

A fun fact about me is that I have a degree in telecommunication and will die on the hill that media—all of it—has never recovered from the deregulation and consolidation made possible by the Telecom Act of 1996. Don’t get me started on what it did to minority-owned radio and TV stations.

It’s worth noting that I stopped listening to regular radio *in* 1996 and switched to college and public radio entirely. (This is also why I know *nothing* about modern artists and why the Grammys are an exercise in futility for me.)

In a YT video titled, “Why every radio station sounds the same,” Phil Edwards goes back to early American radio history to answer this question. Also, it is now CLEARER to me HOW the 1996 Telecommunications Act, signed in Clinton’s administration, is significant in this. https://youtu.be/nhapXNTzdQI

Going to be the opposite of Twitter and view every thought on Bluesky in the best possible light. If someone says “I like pancakes”, I will think “this person potentially also likes waffles, which are also delicious” Yes bitch, that is a supportive viewpoint, that’s what we are all talkin bout

Periodic reminder for newbies that this works really well to find your Twitter follows on here- I rerun it every few days and always find new people. (It’s not perfect but it’s pretty good) https://skeet.labnotes.org

I may as well post this while I am experiencing this energy, currently on this platform: I am enjoying and appreciating the vibe of openness and amusing wit, here. May it stay that way for quite a significant while.
