Chicagoans, may I ask your advice about something? Is it safe to take the el alone in the Loop for a couple of stops at about 10:00 PM? Please don’t judge me! I’ve never felt threatened in Chicago, but this is a little different for me.

Two good things in my day: 1. Went to the local office of my my congressional rep to voice my concerns in person. A pleasant staffer assured me that things are happening behind the scenes. So we’ll see. 2. Then I went to the local conservatory for a half-hour tropical vacation. A great respite!
