Taking a step back, it's remarkable that the Climate Change Committee & the process of proposing carbon budgets survived the years of political turmoil in the UK. Many climate laws have tried to copy it (e.g., EU, Germany), but none have managed to establish a scientific body as relevant as the CCC.
