It seems almost unavoidable at this point that we are headed for a deep, deep recession. Just based on 200K+ federal firings & pullback of contracts, the March employment report (to be released April 4) seems certain to show bigger job losses than any month ever outside of a few in 2008-9 and 2020.

We'll know the Republic is officially over if Trump/Musk willingly ignore court orders and all the major media outlets cast it as "a bold move" or characterize it as "the political stakes heightening" or whatever as opposed to calling it blatant, Constitution-subverting lawlessness.

I guess the good news is that even though the cost of manufactured goods is about to spike bc of tariffs, the cost of food will ALSO spike bc so many agricultural workers are getting deported. It would feel so weird for inflation to affect big important stuff unevenly.
