Has anyone run into this one before? I have a Google Doc for which I AM THE OWNER; I am signed into Google WITH THE OWNER ACCOUNT; it will not allow me to edit via my laptop's keyboard. I can make non-character-based edits, eg. changing font. And I can edit doc with same account from other devices.

Looks like it’s time to stop buying green bananas.

One week after terminating the employment of over 100 staff at the National Endowment for the Humanities, the agency posts four open positions...but we who are now unemployed are not "eligible" to apply for them. The absolute cruelty is more apparent than ever. #NEH

You guys, does anyone know the number for the Signal chat?

As we bear witness to the seismic changes in federal governance and public technology, this project could not be more timely. See 🧵 below. Two founding members of the US Digital Service (rebranded DOGE) have amassed an extensive oral history archive and timeline of the agency’s origins under Obama.

If one is to have a military, it should be resourced, respected, and when appropriate, commemorated. It need never be celebrated.

It literally raining on Trump’s parade would be ironic in a very specifically Alanis Morissette kind of way.

Word work ftw

The neighborhood is getting ready for tomorrow

Chair of history department at U.S. Naval Academy resigns after order to remove paper from symposium “for reasons having nothing to do with scholarship.” [James Matheson, Baltimore Sun]

BREAKING: US Marines deployed to Los Angeles have carried out the first known detention of a civilian, the US military confirms. It was confirmed to Reuters after they shared this image with the US military.

This would be very very *very* deeply not good.

Also cannot be emphasized enough: Barack Obama successfully negotiated the shutdown of Iran's nuclear program. It exists today because Trump deliberately tore up that agreement. The deaths happening right now can be laid at his door.

One respondent to this informed me that my city is full of “collaborators in genocide” and you’ll never guess what happened next

Good to remember over the next couple of days that just as not all of Los Angeles is a “riot,” not all of DC (even as it’s much smaller) is an armed camp. Here I am at a neighborhood coffee place a couple of miles from the National Mall. No tanks, no uniforms.

really happy to finally get this out in the world: @romchip.bsky.social is finally launching it's FREELANCER FUND. This initiative is designed to PAY FOR original work by journalists, public historians, & others who work on a contract/freelance basis. Read more: donate.romchip.org/freelancer-f...

So @brettbobley.bsky.social, who is retiring from NEH today, is the very best of public service. Brett embodies the intelligence, dedication, curiosity, and basic humanity this present administration has turned its back on. And: he also has a wicked fashion sense (🐊). #ThanksBrett

Wanted to share here that I have accepted an endowed chair offer from my Alma mater, the University of Virginia, where (after 25 wonderful years at UMD) I will be starting in January as Commonwealth Professor of Artificial Intelligence and English.

Dipshit.
