We look forward to the next #TWiML workshop in Tübingen - you can already register! #womeninscience #womeninstem #machinelearning

Delighted by the lively interdisciplinary exchange at the Machine Learning meets Law Workshop by CZS Institute for AI and Law and @ml4science.bsky.social funded by @carlzeissstiftung.bsky.social co-organized with fellow Group Lead K.Meding & directors Thomas, von Luxburg & @mfinck.bsky.social!

🚀 Soapbox Science is coming to Tübingen! We’re bringing science to the streets on July 26, 2025—no slides, no lectures, just you, a soapbox, and the public! Soapbox Science (soapboxscience.org) is a unique public outreach platform. We are looking for researchers to share their work in a fun way 💫

🔍 Recap of #NeurIPS2024 in Vancouver: Hertie AI members Ifeoma Nwabufo and @sdamrich.bsky.social presented their work at the largest @neuripsconf.bsky.social conference to date. Read the full article here: hertie.ai/two-research... #MachineLearning #AIResearch #HertieAI #WIMLDS

Computer Science at the University of Tübingen is now ranked among the top ten in Germany in the 2025 Times Higher Education World University Rankings by subject! Details (in German) are on the university homepage: https://buff.ly/4jzW7yI.

What do designing drugs, batteries, solar cells, and semiconductor tech have in common? They all rely on intense X-rays from synchrotrons - "CERNs for applied science" -where neural networks process oceans of measured data to assist scientists. www.machinelearningforscience.de/en/human-gui... 1/3

Excited to share that today our paper recommender platform www.scholar-inbox.com has reached 20k users! We hope to reach 100k by the end of the year.. Lots of new features are being worked on currently and rolled out soon.

Can we build neural networks whose structure and computational abilities match a real brain? We are not quite there yet, but recent work by @lappalainenjk.bsky.social et al. shows a strategy for getting closer to this goal. Read more on our blog: www.machinelearningforscience.de/en/improving...

Our University is now here, too!

Join Anna tonight when she will present the results of her stay as Cyber Valley and Rhet AI's journalist-in-residence! The talk will start at 5.30 pm at the Max Planck Institute for Intelligent Systems in Tübingen. Drinks and snacks will be provided;-)

What do people in Baden-Württemberg think about AI and what would they like to tell politicians and researchers? The University of Tübingen established the "AI and Freedom" citizens' council to answer precisely these questions. Read more on our blog: www.machinelearningforscience.de/en/ai-and-fr...

Next week I’ll presenting the results of my journalist in residence project at the MPI for intelligent systems. Hope to see you there! 🦜 @ml4science.bsky.social @twiml.bsky.social @mackelab.bsky.social @maxplanckcampus.bsky.social @rhetai.bsky.social @hertie-ai.bsky.social @tuebingen-ai.bsky.social

Why study the fruit fly brain? Tech giants spend billions on gigantic neural networks, but there’s a fruit fly with only 130_000 neurons that can do so much more and runs on less power than a quartz watch.

Can we build neural networks whose structure and computational abilities match a real brain? We are not quite there yet, but recent work by @lappalainenjk.bsky.social et al. shows a strategy for getting closer to this goal. Read more on our blog: www.machinelearningforscience.de/en/improving...

This is very important and I am so glad about the efforts taken in Tübingen by Claire. Kudos! 👏

With “Tübingen Women in Machine Learning”, Claire Vernade and her team have created a local community. Their aim is to empower women and make them more visible. Read more on our blog: www.machinelearningforscience.de/en/a-network... @twiml.bsky.social #TWiML #WiML

I am at #NeurIPS this week with two workshop posters and a contributed talk at the ML and the physical sciences workshop! 🥳 Details ⬇️ Reach out if you want to have a chat!

Thrilled to announce we have three #NeurIPS2024 papers! Interested in simulating realistic neural data with diffusion models or recurrent neural networks, or in source distribution sorcery? Have a look 👇 1/4

New preprint by our member Michael Knaus!

This is a great #starterpack that @janlause.bsky.social made so that you can easily find the Tübingen AI/ML for Science/Neuro people, including many scientists, groups and partners of our cluster!

Attention AI researchers! 🚀 Our Journalist-in-Residence, @annahenschel.bsky.social, wants your input on #AI metaphors. Take 10–15 min to: 💡 Rate popular metaphors. 🗣️ Share thoughts on media coverage. ✨ Get inspired! Help shape better AI communication 👉 forms.gle/KeWsbGPRfLf6...
